The sporting directors, as well as others at the club has made mistakes in the last few years.
However, they took the entire club, tore it down and rebuilt it from scratch.
2 years on we qualified for the UCL for the first time under their rule while we walked the Conference League and won the CWC with arguably the best final performance in Chelsea history.
This season, despite injuries to big players, no pre season, fatigue running through the squad and a coach leaving mid season we are still on course for UCL qualification, finished top 6 in the league phase and has made at least one deep domestic cup run already.
Look at the team we are putting out on the pitch today, when we finally have close to our best team on the pitch. Cole Palmer, Enzo Fernandez, Estêvão, Joao Pedro, Moises Caicedo, Andrey Santos, Marc Cucurella, Malo Gusto, Robert Sanchez...all top class, exciting players with potential to get even better in the future.
And yet, you are out here talking about how much more they need to do to lose their jobs?!? For the love of God, man get some perspective.
Can they do even better? Of course. Have they made mistakes? Of course they have. Have they also done a really good job all said and done? I think so. Is the project on the right course? Yes, and that's not even up for debate.
If you think a decision made about Chelsea Women – which I'm sure they can probably argue is the best one for the longer term success of the team, is going to change that, then you are massively overestimating the size and meaning of the women's team to the club as a whole. I say this with all respect to CFCW and women football in general but it is minuscule in comparison to men's football and likely always will be.
As for what will happen to CFCW, imo, it will be restructured to align with the club as a whole. The role of sporting director and day to day running of the team will be outsourced to someone we know who has knowledge of women's football. Results in the short-term would likely suffer but the goal is to build sustainable success again in the future in the vision of the club.
You can agree or disagree but ultimately they make the decisions and their decisions are made with an idea in mind. Let's just see how it plays out. Change doesn't have to equal negative but we won't know for sure until it's given time.
CHELSEA REWIND: On this day in 2002, Chelsea beat Norwich City 4-0 at Stamford Bridge in a F.A Cup 3rd Round Replay. The night will always be remembered for Gianfranco Zola scoring one of the best ever Chelsea goals at the Bridge. #Legend 👏🇮🇹
Enzo Maresca gets sent off for this…
& this is exactly what’s wrong with modern day football.
Trying to remove emotion from the game, SHOCKING! 😫 https://t.co/auwXtO7skk
