An experimental Nintendo Switch emulator called ProsperoEden is now running natively on jailbroken PS5 consoles.

It’s based on the open-source Eden emulator, and even though it’s still in alpha, some games are already playable.

Current results:

-Cuphead: 60 FPS
-Metroid Dread: around 40 FPS
-Mario Kart 8 Deluxe: around 39.5 FPS
Super Mario 3D World: playable in tested sections

The emulator currently uses OpenGL, with no Vulkan renderer yet. It also supports DualSense controls, saves, and a performance overla

SteamOS is slowly making its way beyond the Steam Deck.

People are now getting SteamOS running on Snapdragon handhelds like the AYN Odin 2 and AYANEO Pocket S2, basically turning them into tiny ARM-based Steam Decks.

These are community ports, not official Valve releases, and there’s still some work to do with drivers, compatibility and performance.

A Pennsylvania state senator is proposing new legal protections for people who buy digital video games.

The proposed Protect Our Games Act would require publishers to give players at least 60 days’ notice before shutting down access to a game.

Companies would then have to provide an option such as enabling offline play, allowing continued access through a patch, or offering a refund of at least 25% of the original purchase price.

Demon’s Souls Remake has gone from barely running to 40–50 FPS in about a month on the KyTyPS5 PS5 emulator.

Progress has been wild!!: 1 FPS → 2 FPS → 15–18 FPS → 30 FPS → 40–50 FPS in a few weeks.

The latest test on an i9-14900K and RTX 5090 holds 40–50 FPS across several areas with relatively few graphical issues.

Playstation is so cooked man, if this continues so fast soon all games will be playable

SharpEmu, an experimental PS5 emulator, has hit another milestone, of 55 PS5 games tested, 12 now reach actual gameplay, with six playable at 60 FPS:

-Terrarium
-New Joe & Mac: Caveman Ninja
-Tetris Forever
-Hoa
-Tomb Raider IV-VI Remastered

Bigger games like Demon’s Souls, Astro Bot and GTA V remain far from fully playable in SharpEmu.

SteamOS 3.9.2 is now in Beta, and Valve is fixing several issues ahead of the wider release.

-Steam Machine Remote Play when no external display is connected
-VRR frame limiter issues
-Incorrect frame limiting when streaming VR games from Steam Machine to Steam Frame
-Slower boot times and unexpected wake-ups
-Some games failing on new Intel Panther Lake CPUs
-Wi-Fi connection issues and boot screen problems

The Netherlands is exploring Linux as an alternative to Windows on government computers.

The DAWO project aims to create an open-source alternative to Windows, including the operating system, office tools, collaboration software and IT management.

The project is still being tested, and there's no confirmed date for a wider rollout. The goal is to reduce reliance on foreign tech companies and give the government more control over its digital systems.

Other European governments are also looking at ways to move away from Microsoft's software and use more open-source technology.

Stellar Blade is adding a frame generation toggle on Nintendo Switch 2 after players complained about how the game looks and feels.

The game targets 60fps using frame generation but actually runs at 30fps, frame gen can cause input lag, making combat feel less responsive, especially when parrying.

Players have also reported visual issues, including Eve’s hair looking like a mess of pixels, while the UI still runs at 30fps.

Shift Up has confirmed frame generation will be optional at launch.
