Believe the facts, not social media propaganda.
Turkish food lie #3: Cacık (Raita). This is another food that is hugely popular in countries spanning from Greece to India, which the Turks wrongly say they invented.
In ancient India, dairy-and-cucumber mixtures were popularized to cool down the palate after eating heavily spiced dishes.
Elite Persian travelers and traders adopted this yogurt-and-cucumber cooling concept from India and introduced it to the Middle East, with the earliest documented ancestors of the Indian raita appearing under the name jājaq in a 10th-century Arabic cookbook written by Ibn Sayyar al-Warraq.
Jājaq/cacık, or tzatziki in Greek, traces back to the Persian word zhazh (ژاژ), which refers to various edible wild herbs and greens cooked or eaten with meals, combined with the Turkish diminutive suffix -cık.
During the expansion of the Ottoman Empire, raita diverged into distinct regional variations. Greek Version: Greeks strain sheep or goat milk yogurt to make tzatziki.
This creates a much thicker, creamier dip bound with olive oil, garlic, cucumber, and typically flavored with dill or vinegar.
Turkish Version: Cacık is thinner and more liquid refreshment or cold soup, sometimes diluted with water and topped with sumac and mint.
Balkan Version: Tarator is served as a cold liquid soup, often with walnuts.
The food lineage linking Indian raita to the Mediterranean passed through medieval Persia and then into the Ottoman Empire. Yet the Turks want to claim this Indian invention as their own.
Another positive story. True work of influencers.
Telugu Abbayi Kant shared this a couple of days ago.
His “Poorva Sampada Rakshana Sena” is doing tremendous work.
They called for the revival of this ancient well, which had turned into a dumping yard. They received a tremendous response. Children, youth, and adults all came together and participated in this mahayagna.
“Poorva Sampada Rakshana Sena” received the Ugadhi Puraskaram award for their work in reviving ancient wells, ponds, and temples.
The “Mana Gudi Mama Badi” team also participated and helped them.
Maddileti Reddy garu provided breakfast and lunch to all participants. 👏🏼👏🏼🙏🏼

Researchers from IIT Madras and IISc Bengaluru have solved a chemistry puzzle that remained unanswered for over 70 years.
As reported in The Indian Express, the team led by Prof. Sundargopal Ghosh and Stutee Mohapatra from the Department of Chemistry, IIT Madras, along with Prof. Eluvathingal Jemmis from IISc Bengaluru, has synthesised a carbon-free molecule that mimics the iconic ‘sandwich’ structure of ferrocene.
Using osmium and boron-based rings instead of carbon, the breakthrough marks the first stable carbon-free version of the molecule — something scientists worldwide had long attempted to achieve.
Published in the prestigious journal Science (https://t.co/zqkL1CSqz6), the discovery could open new pathways for designing advanced materials with unique chemical and structural properties.
