Ms. Rita Hanks, the Education Services Specialist at our Kansas City Battalion, was just named the Education Services Specialist of the Year for USAREC. Her outstanding performance and numerous contributions to the recruiting mission are vitally important and greatly appreciated.

We recognized some of our outstanding recruiters this week during our Company OUA meetings in Dallas, Texas who put in great performance during the 3rd Quarter of FY18.

Conducting Company Operations Update Assessments in Dallas, Texas this week. As our recruiting operations continue, we're also working to set the recruiting conditions for FY-19. We have a great team that is surging to the finish to complete our requirements.

The Brigade and Battalion Leadership Teams came to Fort Sam Houston this
week and created our "Fiscal Year 2019 Campaign Plan." The plan defines
our priorities, per quarter, for next fiscal year and lists the key
recruiting activities and events on our long-range calendar.

Had a great physical training event this morning with the leaders we're working with during this week's Operational Update Assessment on Fort Sam Houston. It was a great way to kick off the day.

We recently visited the United Services Automobile Association (USAA) to build new relationships to help enhance our recruiting efforts. It was a great opportunity to let the USAA team know about the career opportunities, training, experience and benefits available to Soldiers.

Conducting the Operations Update Assessment this week with the USAREC Commanding General, MG Jeffrey J. Snow, the Deputy Commander for Operations, Brigadier General Kevin Vereen and Command Sergeant Major Anthony T. Stoneburg. We are working to improve recruiting operations.

We just hosted the African-American Heritage Observance at the historic Fort Sam Houston theater. What a great day. We were honored to have Major General Patrick D. Sargent, the Deputy Commanding General for Operations, U.S. Army Medical Command as our guest speaker.

The 5th Recruiting Brigade team is preparing to host a Black History Month observance at the historic Fort Sam Houston Theater this Friday at 11 a.m. Central Time. We are fortunate to have an outstanding guest speaker and have a great program ready for our local community.

As part of the 5th Recruiting Brigade Civilian Leadership Development Program, civilian staff members recently gathered on Ft. Sam Houston to take part in leadership classes provided by Ms. Sharon D. Fitzpatrick of the Fitzpatrick Group.

First Sergeants of the 5th Recruiting Brigade recently gathered at Fort Sam Houston to improve their capabilities to accomplish this year's mission. The First Sergeants took part in training classes designed to enhance their effectiveness as recruiting leaders.

CSM Craig Russell and I took time this Friday, 19 January to recognize outstanding Army Recruiters who have done so much to contribute to the recruiting mission in recent months. We conducted a ceremony on Fort Sam following this week's Operational Unit Assessment Briefings.
