Hey all, Unfortunately, things didnโt go quite as planned, and weโve had to make the tough call to postpone this year's #5MilesFromHome to spring 2025.
Ocean to City / Meitheal Mara was excited to lead this year, but with a few changes behind the scenes and some logistical challenges, weโre not quite ready for this month. Apologies.
Congratulations to everyone involved! ๐ช๐ฒ'๐๐ฒ ๐ฑ๐ผ๐ป๐ฒ ๐ถ๐! Huge thanks to all the people behind the scenes for making this year's event happen: @wsranews@OfficialSCRA @CorkHarbourFest #OceanToCity
And importantly, a sincere thanks to all our participants for joining us! 2/2

Celtic Longboats came out in full strength this year, we wanted to recognize teams' special efforts in this class. A huge thank you to each club for entering #5milesfromhome. @wsranews wants to personally commend and award the following Class Association Awards to each team๐ด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ท๓ ฌ๓ ณ๓ ฟ
โจThe Medium Award is given to the participant finishing right in the middle of the fleet, thereby accepting this designation as a rep of the whole fleet. This years winner is Bryony, representing Llanion Warriors RC in Wales. Thank you for partaking in #5milesfromhome ๐
The Perseverance Award goes to The Mallards from @EastneyCruising in their Cornish Pilot Gig. Well done team, great work from everyone. The crew faced challenging weather conditions but this didn't stop them completing #5milesfromhome โค๏ธ
The 'Plate of Spaghetti' Special Award is a new award made especially for our friends at @QueensferryRow! Congratulations to the Skua Chasers, what a masterpiece! The team had to juggle 30mph winds but made it work, what an outcome! Well done to all involved, #5milesfromhome๐
3) Both teams did not live up to their names (in the best way!) rowing really impressive times and enjoying the journey. We wish you all the best in your future rowing adventures! It was lovely to have you all join #5milesfromhome โค๏ธ
1) The Novice Award goes to two very deserving teams. Congrats '5 Blind Mice' from Solva RC and 'Average Rows' from Nairn CRC. 5 Blind Mice told us "fairly inexperienced crew whoโd never rowed together before" ๐ด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ท๓ ฌ๓ ณ๓ ฟ
2) Average Rows said "We're all new to rowing in the last year / couple months, and this was our first row altogether after a late night last minute change of crew! But it was so much fun; we spent the entire 5 miles laughing and singing together!"๐ด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ณ๓ ฃ๓ ด๓ ฟ
