marc marquez went from almost retiring because of an injury to winning a championship again… we’re witnessing one of the greatest comebacks in sports history
📝 Dear David,
we’ve had almost nine years to start writing your goodbye letter, and we’ve just left it for the last day. How are we supposed to say goodbye to a rider who started riding for us when he was just an 11-years-old kid, and now leaves as a 20-years-old, #Moto3 world champion man?
You are the perfect example of this team's work, from the grassroots level to the MotoGP World Championship. We've seen you grow, from those races in the Spanish 85GP Championship when you were just a kid, to touching the sky in Japan in 2024, breaking records that will bear your name for years to come. It's been a long road, but we've certainly made the most of it.
You've been a key figure in a unique generation. Whoever brought Izan Guevara, Dani Holgado, Iván Ortolá, and David Alonso together on the same team had a real eye for talent. It was 2020 and you had been already champion in Spain, but that year we won the European Talent Cup together. And a year later, the Rookies Cup. To win in Moto3, we had to wait until 2024. And although 2025, and then 2026, started with some bumps in the road, a rider like you knew how to tame them and turn them into new successes like the victory in Assen (in Assen!).
And, mind you, this is a farewell, but we still have challenges to overcome and a few more lines of our story together to write. Eleven more races, eleven gifts, eleven opportunities to feel the excitement with you again before you knock on the door of the premier class and everyone gets to know you. Those of us who have known you since you were little, literally half your life, will miss you, but we will continue to be thrilled by your races wherever you go.
