Welcome to 5-Solae Studies. Theology and church history can feel intimidating, but they don't have to be. I am bridging the gap between the academic and the everyday believer. I'll be posting simple Bible study, church history bites, and visual scripture. let's learn together.

On his way home from the Diet of Worms, Martin Luther is seized in a staged kidnapping ordered by Frederick the Wise and taken to Wartburg Castle for his protection. While in hiding, Luther begins his landmark German translation of the New Testament.
I often look at the world in total awe of what God has made. The highest peaks and the mightiest oceans are just a small glimpse of His power. It’s a humbling reminder that the same God who spoke the stars into space is the same one who cares deeply for all of us.
Don’t let the noise and busy-ness push God to the sidelines. We need time in the Bible and prayer daily because we weren't meant to carry our burdens alone.
Time with God isn't finishing a chore or checking a box. It's how we stay connected to the only One who gives us peace.
Rest is a spiritual discipline. God implemented the Sabbath because He knows our tendency to rely on our own strength. Sabbath is a reminder for us that our value isn't found in our output, but in God.
Take the rest He’s provided. He designed us for it.
Vermigli’s life is a reminder that theology is never only theoretical. Sometimes truth carries a cost. But even in exile, God can turn loss into influence.
Peter Martyr Vermigli is one of the most underrated figures of the Reformation. To follow his convictions, he fled his homeland and spent the rest of his life as a scholar in exile from Italy. Here is his story.🧵
From Zurich, Vermigli’s influence kept spreading. He worked in Strasbourg, then in England, where Thomas Cranmer brought him to Oxford and he helped shape Protestant theology in the English Reformation.
First, however, the Spirit must lead Jesus to the place of temptation by the devil. (...) The Spirit’s role here teaches two important truths: God remains sovereign over the devil but God himself tempts no one.

One silver lining about having a newborn that gets up multiple times a night is that once the baby is feeding I have some quiet solitude for a bit where I can get some reading done 📖
There were some scary nights and ER visits. My prayer life grew exponentially in those days and I went to God for everything. I had no control and depended on God entirely.
Thankfully my wife is doing much better now, but that part of our lives brought us much closer to God.
It's one thing to know that we should always depend on God, but I never fully understood what that meant until I got married.
Early on in our marriage my wife had a lot of medical issues come up. It got to the point where she couldn't continue working.
Our bodies do not belong to us, but to God. Therefore we should do our best to treat our bodies with respect and dignity not just physically, but mentally and spiritually as well.
The Spirit dwells within those of us who have accepted Christ. Is your body a fitting temple?
Repent therefore, and turn back, that your sins may be blotted out - Acts 3:19
Repentance isn’t just for the day we first accept Christ as our saviour. It’s the daily turning of our hearts from sin back to God.
His mercy is freely given to all who come to Him for forgiveness.
