I was honoured to be asked to join the soldiers in reading out a poem "In Flanders' Fields" where I then laid a poppy cross on the table in memorial of Henry Ashcroft who died on 6th July 1917, aged 28, he is buried in France.

This morning I attended the launch of the Stoke-on-Trent Poppy Appeal at Stoke-on-Trent Railway Station which also marks the centenary of the Stoke Station Memorial Arch to 152 employees of the North Staffordshire Railway who gave their lives in the First World War.
