@sayrolivares@Squeeze1i Though I will point out that number of slides doesn't equate to amount of time. I tend to have way more slides than colleagues, because I break information up across slides. So my 10 slides may equal one of theirs. You just don't go cross-eyed trying to read walls of text. 🤷♀️
@joelnorthwall@james_xond That was how my school district was set up, too. Though, it did depend on which science courses you chose (e.g., anatomy vs chemistry).
@james_xond I took physics and chemistry, instead. But my brother's science class dissected one in middle school. Anatomy classes at my high school dissected cats.
@Romy_Holland For the Bay Area, a new federal employee at a GS-5 level (essentially, entry level) makes about $25/ hour. This is a job adults with families take.
The cost of babysitters these days, and the discourse surrounding it, absolutely floors me.
Good luck!
@The_Matador_X1@Romy_Holland Not always, but maybe for a long time. When I was a kid (back in the dark ages), the market rate for babysitters was about half of what minimum wage was.
@Isa_11_AC@Smeep248@ThePOTSPostman Yep. I was at a gathering at a friend's house recently and got asked specifically about some joint pain. I said I'd been able to walk down the stairs normally 3 or 4 times in the past week, which was more than I'd managed in ages. Unintentionally shut down the conversation.
@cyberch8se Right there with you. I live my roommate, but not having to eat in my room or getting to chill without a mask on the couch when she's gone overnight (rare) is such a simple relief/joy.
@dh44t@rekdt Not the same, but my boss made more than 2x my salary (he made 6 figures; I… didn't). He knew I often wore "fun" socks. He called me into his office and showed me a pair of goofy socks his wife had won as a door prize at a party. Not her style. Did I want to *buy* them? 😡
@IamBalhamMatt@RichardSw3at@brewmeone@RealDanGliebitz The awards are international, so I'm not sure how whether or not most Americans have traveled to France is relevant.
But we also don't have to have been to France to have tried French cheeses. There's a selection at every supermarket. Plus plenty of specialty shops.
@MegKeene@strategy_rpg@adastroworld Not nightly torture, because it absolutely will lead to sex sometimes. It's simply that there's no expectation that it *must* lead to sex. If either of you isn't quite feeling it for whatever reason, the boundaries are already set such that there will be no guilt or pressure.
@igypham@emilykmay But that's not what it is. It's, "I want to make out. I don't want to feel pressured to have sex, though."
Some nights there will be sex. Some nights there won't be. But not feeling pressured will probably, over time, mean there's more sex overall.
@SketchesbyBoze The Hobbit‽ I usually see that recommended for readers around age 10+. And the story itself, e.g., parents reading it aloud, for kids around 6+. Our library showed the Rankin Bass cartoon as part of the kids program every summer. Toddlers on up watched it.
