Don’t fall to what the books tell you to use a standard raising size for balance. There aren’t such thing in low stakes. Raise to the amount that can achieve your goals. Min raise to attract dead money, induce squeeze and re-squeeze.
Raise 10x or bigger to isolate. Be creative.
or hands that makes top pair often but have no potential like AJo, KJo. Try to build the pot and thin the field pre flop. Limp reraise in ep, raise huge late position. The idea is to trap as much money pre and play a heads up or 3way pot.
For hands that has nut potential such as high suited connectors, suited Aces and kings, try include more players in. You can raise first in from any position or just call when someone limp or open raise.
Pocket Pair typically missing key blocker that you want to have to reduce the strong hands your opponent have in their continue range. Bluffing with nut flush draw or nut straight draw are better candidates.
Opponents betting range and calling range are way stronger than heads-up pot. Portion of this range that fold to aggression are tiny. Hence a bluff with pair are not cost worthy.
3/5/T, fold to hero in BU, open 30 KQo. SB, BB fold, Str 140 with 2500 behind call. Str is aggressive and caught bluffing, stuck. Flop QT3 rainbow, Str 140 Hero call. Turn Q check, hero 140, Str raise 420, call. River A, bet 1200, wyd?
2/3/5/10, loose passive table. HJ, CO limp. Hero in SB raise to 60 ATs, BB call, HJ, CO all call. Flop KdTc2h, c, 80, call, call. Hero raise to 400, fold fold, HJ tank call with Q9 with 100 behind.
