Thank you to Lewis Central GBB for opening the gym up and shooting with us!
We appreciate your hospitality and good luck this season!
On to @HuskerWBB camp we go!
We’ve replaced meaningful competition with constant meaningless games. When everything is a “tournament,” nothing feels like it matters. Kids are playing 40–50 weekends a year, but where’s the space for real development, reflection & hunger to improve? More isn’t always better.
Sports end for everybody. Real life doesn’t. Stop acting like college debt is the only path to success. Trades, business, tech, sales & skilled labor matter. Use sports to build discipline, leadership & character, not your entire identity. Kids need a vision bigger than the game!
We have a problem.
Somewhere along the line, “Playing multiple sports is good!” turned into, “you have to play all of your sports simultaneously year round!”
We’ve lost the plot. Kids cannot play a baseball, basketball, and football season all at the same time.
Our youth system is beyond broken. We’ve devalued real coaches. Kids aren’t developed, they are overtrained, burned out, forced to specialize early & pressured to win at all costs. Structural change is needed. We don’t teach the game anymore! We promote the game & it’s killing us
Players: Enjoy your HS playing days. There’s nothing like playing in front of a crowd of your community members, friends & family & playing alongside classmates. The sense of community & school pride is unbeatable. Relish it; rejoice in it; respect it. It’s over before you know.
KSHSAA Assistant Executive Director Jeremy Holaday @itsaholaday mentioned it is pretty open for when game days will be during the week for girls flag 🏈 this fall. @KSHSAA
"We did have a couple of instances where they played the Friday before the tackle football game. Great success."

I am blessed and excited to announce my verbal commitment to Our Lady of the Lake University 🤍💙Thank you @coachshowman for this incredible opportunity and for believing in me. The job is not finished… I can’t wait to get to work and start this new season with my new team! 🏀🔥
@SalinaFootball will have two Assistant Football jobs open and have many teaching jobs at South high and South Middle open. PE/Math/English, etc.
Interested Coaches please forward resumes to Coach Christien Orzores at [email protected]
So many things wrong with this:
1) Multi-sport athletes develop and transfer over unique skills that specialists will not have
2) Multi-sport athletes experience less burnout
3) “we support you, but…” isnt honesty or support, its leveraging fear to get guys to quit other sports
I could keep going, but if you’re a young student-athlete reading this, ignore bad coaching like this.
You get to be in high school ONCE. Play all the sports you want, work hard in those sports and any offseasons, and you’ll be the best you can be.
You will ABSOLUTELY not fall behind less talented specialists. IF you are truly a college-bound athlete, playing multiple sports is PROVEN to maximize your abilities long-term!
And if you are an average player in two sports, quitting one doesnt make you better in the other. Have FUN.
Dont shortchange your HS experience bc some coach wants to try and fear-bait you into specializing when we all know the best athletes play anyway.
If you're a parent and are feeling tired, overwhelmed, and defeated, I want you to remember this.
Parenting is only hard for GOOD parents.
Keep going. You got this.
