My friends, I have some news to share.
Early in December, a friend messaged me and told me that he nominated me for the Illinois Red Cross Hero Awards and I was honored, of course and filed it away in my very full brain.

The @RedCrossIL asked to do a call in February and I figured it was for further information but instead (much to my huge surprise) they called me and told me that I have been selected as this year's recipient of the Global Citizenship Hero Award. I sat there in complete surprise not knowing what to say for a solid minute (if you know me this is rare) before mustering up the ability to say thank you. I wasn't permitted to share until the press release came out and it is here.

A Hero means many things. For me I share this honor with my unit Black Cats Medical Group and squadron @5th_center who are heros to me.

Courage is always fighting for what you believe in no matter what the circumstance.

I am so honored by this. Thank you Red Cross of Illinois from the very bottom of my heart.
