The top of Mt. Washington was in the clouds overnight as temps plunged into the upper 20s, leaving a fresh coating of rime ice down to about 5800ft. Here's the view at sunrise (23 Sept 2026) looking towards the northern summits of the Presidential Range from our instrument tower.

Earlier this shift on Sunday, the summit cleared from the fog in time to reveal a partial undercast to our west as the sun was setting and lighting up the clouds.

The summit will be dry today and fog-free as high pressure crests overhead and then shifts offshore.

The first clear night since Wednesday allowed the first unobstructed views of the Honor Summit lights from the summit, seen here backlighting the tower, the parapet, and a vertical shot where the parallel light beams appear to cross. (1/2)
