@brettdrc@debster_92@richardzussman Raise the interest rates. Reform FINTRAC and OSFI to actually enforce money laundering laws and penalize bad banks. Fund anti money laundering task for in the RCMP. Fund dedicated Port Police to slow Fentanyl trade. Implement progressive flipping tax.
Yes, development charges are high in Toronto
But do people honestly believe that the reason nobody wants to buy a 600 sq ft pre-con condo for $1M
Is because development charges went up by $25K since 2021?
If Canadian Banks commit these types of crimes in the U.S., where there are real penalties (although no executive will face prison time), just imagine what they do here, in Canada, a country known for NOT punishing white-collar crime and laughably lax anti-money laundering rules.
Surely, a cross-party consensus can be found to create a Financial Action Task Force with teeth and a truncheon and exponentially increase the penalties for helping enrich drug cartels and organized crime.
Told ya. Also, they're increasing the RRSP home buyer plan withdrawal limit from 35k to 60k, sending young people a clear message of "Screw your retirement, we can't let housing prices fall, otherwise boomers might be in financial trouble for THEIR retirement."
I've made this table to visualize why speculators are the cancer to our housing market and their only goal is to drive up prices. Let me know if it needs any tweaks or changes.
Amazing how quickly the realtor and developer narrative in Vancouver went from:
▪️ Buy now, foreign buyers looking for a place to park capital. Now or never
▪️Foreign buyers are <3%, racism! We have to change the narrative
▪️We need foreign buyers or nothing gets built

The Panama Papers revealed corrupt politicians & their associates hid stolen cash around the world.
People think it had no impact & elites learned no lessons.
Not true. Two investigative journalists were murdered and elites learned you can’t do shit about it.

How Did Real Estate Get So Screwed Up In Canada? Because It's Really Screwed Up
House Prices Are Batshit Crazy, Immigration is at its highest levels in decades, we will build FEWER homes to buy this year than previous years & Mortgage Rates remain at 20 year highs

Today, Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland toured an apartment building built with the help of a government program touting it as a successful project for low and middle income Canadians.
The prices **starting** at:
* no bedrooms 330sqf shitbox for $1,680+/m.
* no bedrooms little bigger 480sqf shitbox for $1825+/m.
* 1 bedroom 630sqf for $2615+/m.
* 2 bedrooms 816sqf for $3300+/m!
Not only no low income Canadian can afford to live there but an average income earner in Victoria, British Columbia will have to spend ~45% of their after tax income to live in a studio - they wouldn't be able to afford a bedroom.
To afford 2 bedrooms a person would have to be a top earner.
Freeland is alarmingly disconnected from what is happening in Canada.
This is the Liberals financing impoverishment of Canadians and bragging about.
2 Guys Steal $400M From All Of Us Taxpayers: They Knew How To Do It Because One WORKED For The Department Of Defense
Turns out one of the Arrive-Scam guys works for the Department of Defense so he had a front row seat to the art of ripping off Government with crap contracts

The only way to fix the housing affordability problem is with a housing price crash.
Anyone that thinks otherwise is fooling themselves and everyone else.
Quiz time, 🇨🇦! 🙋♂️
The Seattle port employs 200 police officers to assist with enforcement after screening.
About 180 kms north is the Roberts Bank Superport, 🇨🇦's largest port. How many police officers does it employ?
If you plan on coming to Canada to live and work long term… being able to commit fraud will be an important skill set to have if you plan on staying for many years…
The good news is, all levels of government don’t really care so there is a low probability of getting caught..

Imagine being a law abiding Canadian, paying income taxes in Canada, just trying to make ends meet and save to buy a home… only to have to compete against this…
