The decision to create the new RMRK token stems from the suspension of the Multichain bridge used for token bridging, resulting in the fragmentation of the xcRMRK token across multiple chains. The new RMRK token, built on OZ and Axelar, is a cross-chain token that can be bridged between chains through the Axelar Network, ensuring future resistance to such events.

I hear a lot of people are confused as to how I can play around with side projects while running @rmrkapp.

I am not really running RMRK - I am barely useful at RMRK these days. As ops/admin, I have almost completely de-emphasized my position there in favor of writing code again (any code - both RMRK-adjacent code and other stuff) and getting more familiar with the technical side of various ecosystems, which is also a part of what I must do for RMRK's benefit as it expands.

RMRK can only grow without relying on a central figure, and the fact that they've been shipping relentlessly without me nosing about in every little detail shows me how unnecessary I am and how competent and driven the team is.

Take any experiments I launch as a good thing - my ultimate goal is to grow RMRK's tech, and the $RMRK token's reach and utility, and I can best do this without being bogged down by micromanagement, which is what the past two years were really about and what partially caused me to burn out.

Me exploring, building, and hacking around the various ecosystems where RMRK is, is a testament to my commitment to the ecosystem, and will (hopefully) weave the web of modular NFT tentacles that will eventually consume every web3 project that cares about decentralization and growing the pie for everyone.
