@PeterVecsey1 RIP Lenny Wilkens...MVP 1960 NIT...Helluva backcourt tandom with Johnny Egan. Despite losing finals to Bradley Braves with Chet Walker he earned MVP.
I did not write this, just passing it on..
Don’t Mess with Anyone Over 60.
Seriously.
They’re not just older, they’re a different species.
Built from cold toast, hot tempers, and instincts sharper than any app.
These are the people who:
Could read their mom’s mood by the slam of a cabinet door.
Wielded a flying slipper like a heat-seeking missile.
Knew by age 7: “Lunch is in the fridge. Heat it up. Don’t burn the house down.”
At 9, they could cook soup — no recipe, no measurements, just vibes.
By 10, they were fixing taps, dodging stray dogs, and wearing buckets as armor.
They grew up outside.
No phones. No screens.
Just monkey bars → creeks → scraped knees → home by sunset.
Their Wi-Fi? Instinct.
Their antivirus? A garden hose and a gut of steel.
Bread with sugar. Cuts patched with spit and a mystery leaf.
Allergies? Maybe. But unless something fell off — “You’re fine.”
They survived it all:
Transistor radios and vinyl stacks
Black-and-white TV with rabbit ears
Cassettes, Discmans, and pencils jammed into tape reels.
Now they carry every song ever made in their pocket but still miss the sweet grind of a cassette rewinding.
When they got a driver’s license?
They crossed countries with just a paper map, egg sandwiches, and pure faith.
No AC. No GPS. No reservations.
Just: Go.
They remember life before the internet.
Before "low battery" was a thing.
Before birthdays needed reminders.
If they forgot yours? They just didn’t show up. No big deal.
These legends:
Fixed everything with duct tape and a butter knife
Had one TV channel and loved it
Think “scrolling” still means flipping through a phone book
Believe: “If you didn’t answer, you must be alive. Call back later.”
They’re not soft.
They’re forged from rusted metal swings and emotional asbestos.
Tough skin. Sharper minds. Ninja reflexes from dodging life the hard way.
They’ve seen more. Felt deeper.
And they’ve got a Werther’s Original in their pocket that predates your TikTok account.
You have been in many great photos with ABA and NBA greats. IMO this is a classic. I can feel the respect you have for "Fall Back Baby". It is up there with your photo with Rachel Robinson...
Ollie Taylor passed away today.
After Taylor led Houston to a Sweet 16 appearance in 1970, he played four seasons in the ABA with the Nets, Q’s and Cougars.
RIP Ollie 😞❤️🤍💙
@PeterVecsey1 I am reading on one of the Bronx hoop pages that Ollie Taylor passed yesterday. I know you stayed in touch and was wondering if you heard anything. Thanks Peter...
@georgesands58@abathrowbacks Hits home, my roomate and teammate at San Jacinto. No planes, 2 station wagons, 5 guys in each. Pasadena to Dallas 6 hours to play Tyler JC (J Butler) and back after the game. 43-5 dropped the JUCO championship game to Moberly JC by a point. RIP anfd may God bless your family.
@PeterVecsey1 Slightly above your pay grade, but you did battle Larry Legend. Bird often said you guarded him tighter than Coop. The Vet was staple for BV . Dad was world class surgeon. He came from $$ but played like he was broke. Jesus, I miss those days
@PeterVecsey1 A what-If.....Verga jr. yr 66 he was in hospital with strep nite bfore playing Ky in Nat. Semi's. Suited up, no legs and still almost beat Dampier, Riley and Co. losing by 3. Healthy Verga maybe they get to play Tx Western.
@PeterVecsey1 Played tennis at high level, self taught. Coached HS tennis for yrs. IMO Verga still in pole position as Jerz Shores best ever. Ave. 40 for St. Rose Belmar. 2 seconds to go in 64 state finals hits 25 footer for title. Excellent pool player. Not sure where he lives now.

We’re the country where you can disagree like hell & still get together at the dinner table at the end of it. Mark Cuban & I roast each other from time to time, but we share a love of capitalism & free speech. It’s good to hear the other side sometimes. Talk again soon, @mcuban.
