@hughlaurie@MrHarryCole@jan_murray Watched every episode of House when each first came out. Over the past few months, have binge-watched them with my 21-year-old daughter. We loved them (again, in my case). @hughlaurie superb and the writing hilarious/creative in equal measure. Way more than “a hospital drama”.
I love the UK, but…
Me: My daughter’s cut her foot, her old plaster won’t stick on. You got a spare one?
Kew Gardens cafe: We do, but we’re not 1st Aid trained so can’t let you have one in case she’s allergic.
Me: I’m her dad. She’s not.
KG: Yes, but we don’t know that…
Ffs…
Love the BBC Sport picture caption “Gael Monfils made his professional debut in 2004, when his first-round opponent Hugo Gaston was just four years old”. Surely he beat him?
@jbpugh I don’t doubt you. It was appalling and we failed. Even with groupthink/smug sense of liberal modernity/whatever it was, I’m genuinely unclear how so many of us allowed this nonsense to continue. It’s as clear cut as climate change and the BBC should say so.
@DanNeidle@maitlis Top “gotcha” whataboutery in these replies. “Yeah @DanNeidle, why are you, an analytical tax expert, not asking when Man City will be docked points? Or why my daughter’s anxious about GCSEs? Or peace in Iran? Or ANYTHING except your very well-written and fact-based report?”…
@TEnglishSport@afneil And as the best writer on sport in the UK, you’re a one-man slam dunk endorsement for the merits of that scheme. @afneil & co clearly chose very wisely 👏 Doubly so since I got rejected around the same time!
