A Toronto man lived with HIV for 27 years. Then he got leukemia and that diagnosis may have just cured him of both.

His doctors found a bone marrow donor carrying CCR5-Δ32, a rare mutation in ~1% of people of European descent. HIV hijacks immune cells through the CCR5 receptor. If you don't have it, the virus has no door.

The transplant replaced his entire immune system with one HIV can't infect.

He stopped antiretroviral therapy in July 2025. As of today, HIV is undetectable by the most sensitive assays available. No viral reservoir. No immune response to HIV. Nine months clean.

He would be the 11th person in history to possibly be cured of HIV.

PHOTO | New Delhi: The National Human Rights Commission has issued a notice to the National Medical Commission and the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare over a complaint by the United Doctors Front alleging inhumane duty hours for PwD medical students.

The complaint, filed by Dr Lakshya Mittal, highlights 24–72 hour shifts, violation of the Uniform Central Residency Scheme, 1992, and lack of reasonable accommodation, and seeks strict implementation of norms with mandatory weekly offs.

दोस्तों एक लखनऊ का रेप्यूटेड हॉस्पिटल है। मेरे दांत में ज्यादा दर्द था तो उन्होंने 3 दवाएं लिखी मेरे लिए।

उनमें से एक एंटीबायोटिक थी। जैसे ही मैने उसको खाया मुझे अजीब सी बेचैनी महसूस हुई बिस्तर से उठने पर चक्कर आ रहे थे। चलता हू तो लग रहा चला नहीं जा रहा।

फिर मैने पापा को कॉल किया पापा डॉक्टर हैं। तुरंत उन्होंने बताया कि भैया जाके अपना बीपी चेक करवा और रिपोर्ट भेजो। मैने कल चेक करवाया तो उसमें बीपी लो निकला पल्स हाई निकली। पापा ने उस दवा का नाम पूछा तो मैने बताया पापा ने बोला ये दवा नहीं खानी थी तुम्हे। तुरंत उसको रोक दो मैने एक बार ही खाया था।

अब बात ये है ये मैं यहां पर इसलिए लिख रहा हूं आजकल किसी डॉक्टर का विश्वास कैसे किया जाए। समझ ही नहीं आता अच्छा खासा कल से बिस्तर पर पड़ा हूं साला समझ नहीं आता क्या करूं कुछ भी करता हूं तो सांस फूलती है चक्कर आता है।

हॉस्पिटल और डॉक्टर का नाम थोड़े दिन में डिस्क्लोज करूंगा पहले ठीक होकर डॉक्टर से बात करूंगा हॉस्पिटल मैनेजमेंट से बात करूंगा।

राजस्थान के लगभग 1700 चिकित्सा अधिकारी, 1 वर्ष ग्रामीण सेवा के बावजूद 10% आरक्षण से वंचित हैं। कारण: अप्रैल से अप्रैल गणना, जबकि NEET PG अब अगस्त में होता है। नियुक्ति अगस्त 2025 में हुई और अगस्त 2026 में 1 साल (365दिन)की सेवा पूर्ण होगी, फिर भी लाभ नहीं मिलेगा। भर्ती में देरी भी सरकारी थी। यह अन्याय है नीति में संशोधन आवश्यक है ईन डॉक्टरों ने गांवों में बहुत कठिन परिस्थितियों में सेवा दी है।

@UDF_BHARAT @AIIMSNagpur शिशुरोग HoD डॉ मीनाक्षी गिरीश ने RTI में सूचना दी। सितंबर 2025 के कुल 720 घंटों में PG स्टूडेंट्स ने 540 घंटे काम किया। एम्स के नियम के तहत सिर्फ 192 घंटे काम करना था (48 घंटे वीकली)। 348 घंटे अधिक काम लिया, जो उनका पर्सनल टाइम था। यह BNS की धारा 146 के तहत अपराध है।

इन्हें जेल भेजना बेहद आसान है। 1992 के नियमानुसार 48 घंटे से ज्यादा काम कराया, तो BNS 146 लागू।
अगर रेजिडेंट्स के काम के घंटों का फर्जी डेटा रिकॉर्ड किया, तो BNS 337, 340 लागू। दोनों ही स्थिति में जेल जाना तय है।

What happened ?

On 12 March 2026 around midnight, our batchmate, a PGY-1 General Surgery resident, attempted suicide and is currently admitted in the ICU fighting for her life.

She had reportedly been facing repeated public humiliation, body-shaming, and alleged workplace bullying over a prolonged period.

She had cellulitis and had reportedly been working continuously in the ward without sleep for nearly 3 days. Several incidents in recent days appear to have worsened her mental distress:

• During an orientation session, she was told in front of her co-JRs that she needed a psychiatric evaluation.

• In the elective OT, she was publicly shouted at by a senior for being 1–2 minutes late in bringing micropore (a task usually handled by OT staff). She reportedly had a panic attack in the OT and was asked to leave surgery.

Despite repeatedly expressing that she wanted to leave the department due to the extreme stress and toxic work environment, her concerns were allegedly not addressed.

She is a gold medalist in General Surgery during her MBBS exams.

We urge the authorities to conduct a fair and transparent investigation and take strict action if any wrongdoing or harassment is found.

Resident doctors deserve dignity, safe working conditions, and humane treatment.
