6 Cardinal - God Is In The Details

6 Cardinal is a Florida born MC that’s an underground veteran at this point in his musical career. His latest album God In The Details is the first I’ve heard from him but it’s clear to see why he’s 17 albums deep. He’s got the skill and song building skills to last the years, as displayed on God Is In The Details.
After the intro Where I’m From, Quiet Noise is the first lyrical introduction to the album. A short track but one where 6 Cardinal lit the mic on fire immediately. Following it is MOVE featuring Mass Hollow, a standout track but does switch to a beat for about the last 30 seconds that I don’t love. That transitions into On Broward which I was also mixed on initially but once the beat dropped and Cardinal 6 hit the track, that all changed. One thing I have to mention is the transitions, they are seamless and feel so smooth and the album moves from track to track. It’s not a need album to album for me, but when it happens, it’s noteworthy.
Cardinal 6 brings high level flows and bars that range the gambit to match. As much as the first half of the album caught my attention, it’s the second half that really grabbed me. Headcrack is a dope song but it’s Wrong Place, Wrong Time that really catches my attention each play through. The energy Cardinal 6 brings to the song always commands my attention. After which comes some of my favorite songs, like Ving Rhames/Eye On The Prize, Smoke Break, Chlorine, One Day At A Time and even Mastermind. A song with a repeating sample/vocal used throughout I don’t fully love, but the verses were great.
This introduction to Cardinal 6 for me was great. So good in fact, that I paid for the album on Bandcamp. The flows and tracks put together here make for a standout underground album. So go check out God Is In The Details today and support yourself!
