East of Scotland University Air Squadron, RAF. Offering personal development, flying and leadership training to 90 undergraduates at 10 affiliated universities.
The Preliminary Flying Badge is no easy achievement, especially when completing the final year of University. It was a particular pleasure to award Sophia this symbol of commitment and aviation potential. Well done from all your very proud QFIs. Now for a commission...🤞✈️🚁🚀
An exhilarating experience at RIAT18 comes to end. Our thanks again to @rafcharitable for supporting adventurous training and leadership education at ESUAS through the generous ‘Paul Bowen Award’. Watch out for Ex Mongolian Endurance 2019.
A statue to honour Captain Eric 'Winkle' Brown, one of the world’s greatest ever pilots, has been unveiled @EDI_Airport by His Royal Highness The Duke of York KG. https://t.co/Blc9e2mnYb
ESUAS was honoured this morning to provide the Guard at the unveiling of the Capt Eric ‘Winkle’ Brown statue at Edinburgh Airport by HRH Prince Andrew. Our greatest alumni, it all began with the UAS. 79 yrs later and his Sqn continues to seek the aviation talents of the future.
@RIATPR@rafcharitable From us all @6FTS_ESUAS can we say again how grateful we are for this fantastic opportunity. We look forward to telling the public more about the RAFCT ‘Paul Bowen’ Award and Ex Mongolian Endurance at our stand in the ‘RAF Village’ at RIAT.
Congratulations to @6FTS_ESUAS for winning @rafcharitable's prestigious Paul Bowen Award! Read about why they were chosen to receive £15,000 here: https://t.co/8anWAIkiCk 👏🏼
Last night saw ESUAS take the clean sweep in the AVM Gray Leadership Awards at the Cranwellian Dinner, CHOM. Between Fraser, Charlotte and Nathan they won Best Essay and Best Presentation in 6FTS. And £700! Well done to the students, a deserved result. @ComdtCranwell@DefAcUK
The weather was glorious for the Fulmer Gliding Club, who took off from Aboyne towards Leuchars Station, former RAF Leuchars, where they were met by the East of Scotland University Air Squadron @RAFAssociation and @612Sqn. @RAFGSA @BritishGliding#Commemorate#RAFBatonRelay
ESUAS took the baton on a tour of Fife, cycling and running 3 separate legs between Leuchars Station and East Lomond hill. After the final leg, the baton was sent off on the back of a @RBLS_Riders convoy.

A special week at ESUAS saw the Sqn WIN the @rafcharitable Paul Bowen Award by pitching an Expedition proposal that showed the ‘best spirit of adventure, enterprise and challenge’. ESUAS cyclists will now venture 850km across Mongolia! Training began with @RAFBatonRelay!
An ESUAS first this week saw our Remotely Piloted Air System student complete his EFT End Of Course Test. A fascinating and highly operational career now awaits him. Good luck!
Massive thank you to Jonny and all the students at @6FTS_ESUAS for hosting 8th Fife Strathkinness Cubs tonight. Doing your Air Activities Badge doesn’t get any better than this! @UKScouting@ScoutsScotland@UKScoutsMedia
When I joined RAF in 1981, 2B gay meant you'd b fired/imprisoned, women not allowed to fly, getting pregnant = dismised, Transgender unheard of. V proud RAF now at forefront of equality. #RAF100@caz_paige@jo_salter@CarlAustinBehan@RAF_LGBT@stonewalluk

Yesterday the Sqn bid farewell to our longstanding Air Ops Manger, ‘LJ’Smith. His professionalism, initiative, support and personable nature will be widely missed. LJ, we thank you. Once ESUAS, always ESUAS!
This week we welcomed a visit by 24 undergraduates from the BEng(Hons) ‘Aircraft Engineering’ course at our new affiliated university: @PerthCollegeUHI. With 2 of their students now attested and learning to fly, the mutual benefit of this exciting partnership is clear.
ESUAS Leadership Camp. Mirroring OASC, events included ‘hangar exercises’ as leader and follower; individual and group planning; group discussions; problem solving. These life skills build confidence and unlock potential. Top Job to our CGI @paulc737, he could have been a GTI!
Our thanks to Douglas Morgan for qualifying our first member of staff as a Mental Health First Aider. A thought provoking course on a topic that impacts us all, directly or indirectly, military or civilian. Soon 16 of our students will be MHFA qualified with help from @SSAFA.
