Air Force clarifies C-130 brake failure led to runway excursion, no injuries.
Air Force spokesperson Air Marshal Prapas Sornchaidee confirmed that a C-130 aircraft from the 601st Squadron, Wing 6, skidded off the parking area at Samui Airport after a malfunction in its wheel brake system.
The aircraft was returning from a training flight and was stationary while performing routine engine start-up.
Due to the brake issue, the aircraft moved forward, veering off the parking area, and struck a runway light pole before coming to a stop near some bushes. The crew of 8 and 54 passengers were safely evacuated through the rear of the aircraft, with no injuries reported.
Initial damage was minor, with the left wingtip grazing the pole and the front of the aircraft hitting a sign and bushes.
