Welcome to the 6abc Action News Weather Twitter page! Here you'll find updates from the Action News AccuWeather team for the Greater Philadelphia Area.
WEEKEND PREVIEW
It will be a hot one with relief found at the shore. Saturday will be our warmest weekend day of the season so far at the shore. Sunday we will have a few downpours or storms around, but it isn't looking like a washout at this point.
INCREASING HUMIDITY
We've enjoyed a stretch of very dry air for this time of year, but that is going to come to an end. Friday you will start to feel a touch of humidity before it becomes even more noticeable for the weekend. Get ready to use the AC again.
It's a beautiful afternoon out there! Lots of sun, low humidity and warmer temps than the past two days. If you like the warmth, the heat builds as we head toward the weekend.
MIDWEEK FORECAST
Temperatures climb into the 80s for inland locations with 70s at the shore. Dewpoints remain in the 40s making for a warm, but very comfortable day.
LATE WEEK HEAT
We will be close to 90 on Thursday and then well into the 90s with increasing humidity come Friday/Saturday. Definitely looks like a good pool day to start the weekend.
GORGEOUS EVENING
For any outdoor activities. With sunset not until 8:24pm there is still plenty of time to get in that walk, run, bike ride or yard work.
Dry & bright weather sticks around through the rest of the workweek, but we're about to heat things up! Inland highs reach the mid-80s tomorrow, then push near 90° Thursday...Philly's warmest day in about 2 weeks. Slightly toastier temps are possible Friday & Saturday. @6abc
METEOROLOGICAL SPRING
Runs from March 1st through May 31st and was the 3rd warmest and 15th driest for Philadelphia since records began in the 1870s. The warmest period was May 18th through 20th when we had 3 straight record highs in the mid to upper 90s.
Welcome to June! Meteorological summer begins today, with astronomical summer arriving on June 21st. We heat up quickly this month...with average highs nearing 90° by month's end. That means increased muggy days, thunderstorm chances, & sunsets around 8:30PM. @6abc
STRING OF 70S AHEAD
We look to be in the right position of an Omega Block for the next few days with a trough on either coast bringing cooler than average temperatures while the central parts of the country bake.
REFRESHING CHANGE
Dewpoints will go from a tropical feel near 70 degrees this afternoon to the comfortable 40s by late tomorrow afternoon. Low humidity then sticks around for several days as we close out May and begin June. Real nice stretch ahead.
TROPICAL FEEL
Dewpoints are in the upper 60s if not even into the 70s in some locations. This is enough to not just make the air feel thick, but it's helping produce downpours. Relief from the humidity comes tomorrow!
