@WarMonitor3 The paradox of the incompetent West conning a somehow uber competent Putin to totally annihilate his economy and own people; while simultaneously being in control and playing 4D chess...
@thinkabouditt@jeremyct Two points, but appreciate the example. First, the claim doesn't argue in favor or against a wealth tax. Second, it is in fact very hard to describe income versus wealth accretion for the ultra wealthy, this is in fact the point I'm making.
@thinkabouditt@jeremyct I think that's a fair clarification. Here is then where myself and others would argue that, at the limit of the ultra-wealthy, this behavior ceases to be investment activity and becomes a byproduct of how they earn ordinary income.
@thinkabouditt@jeremyct Do we meant a legal or semantic definition? I would posit that if we're arguing semantics then we've lost the plot. There's a reason why the word "effective" was omitted. I would suggest a query to a well known model service for more info, thanks!
The replies to the post below are the most illuminating in terms of which accounts are taking advantage of repeal of the Smith-Mundt Act, which previously prohibited the U.S. government from using propaganda on our own citizens. Theyβre State Department damage control accounts.
Any loss of human life is heartbreaking, especially when it is taken by war or a natural disaster. In Ukraine, we are closely following the reports about the earthquake in Japan. We extend our deepest condolences to Prime Minister @takaichi_sanae and to the people of Japan. Wishing a swift recovery to everyone who was injured and strength to all the affected communities.
