There was no expectation that anyone had a weapon as it is not allowed there. He could have left at any time. If he was trying to defend himself or deescalate there is no excuse for keeping the blade hidden as he is basically taunting the other person. If a bouncer at a bar tells you to leave and you refuse to leave so they shove you out do you have a right to stab them? He had no right being there. Any sane reasonable individual would have just left.
He refused to leave despite being asked for minutes, had his hand on a knife that only he knew about when he challenged him to touch him. He was obviously looking for an excuse to use the knife on him. That is not proportionality. He was never in danger. He could have just left. If he had brandished the knife there is no way Austin would have moved against him. He hid the knife and then stabbed him straight in the heart before he had a chance to react. That is not self defense.
@New_Dimension10@aelluswamy Previously they only had permits for a small fleet. Because Bill 2807 just passed they were able to self certify as a SAE level 4 and now can expand much more quickly.
@DailyMail Who is ratcheting up outrage? The Daily Mail has hundreds of articles mentioning or about George Floyd, based on their dedicated topic hub (https://t.co/z82jT2eP0o).
@mortibois@AlexGandler Partial CCTV footage showed soldiers isolating the detainee behind riot shields (to obscure view from other detainees), with physical handling, pushing, and use of force. The footage did not clearly depict explicit sexual acts like penetration/rape.

This is a really deceptive study. Immigrants tend to be young adults males. They are making an estimate of tax contributions. It is not measured. In terms of benefits, most benefits occur at the young and old age groups for schooling and social security or Medicare. However if an immigrant has children in the US, those children are citizens so that benefit is counted towards the citizen group and not the immigrant group. If the immigrant gains citizenship by the time they retire, social security benefits is counted towards the citizen group, not the immigrant group. Therefore the benefits are not counted towards the immigrant group even though they would not have been dispensed if there was not migration.
Yes, the odds of a complaint against a Black physician were about 1.4 times higher than for White physicians in a CA medical board study. https://t.co/eWmsCTKPiK Also, Black medical students face roughly 2x higher dropout risk than White students and were more likely to do a remedial year. https://t.co/f3QGZxIFIE
@postdiscipline This is due to the UCs eliminating SATs and relying on GPA. They also increased enrollment from LCFF+ schools and minority schools. Post pandemic drop in learning and grade inflation also play a part.
@JulianAndreone Recent data matching in 29 states flagged potential issues like 186k deceased recipients, hundreds of thousands of duplicates/dummy SSNs, implying billions in annual exposure.

Retained corporate earnings are already subject to corporate tax and are not usable by Mark Zuckerberg. The additional stock gains are unrealized meaning they have not translated to actual income that Mark can use yet but when he does sell those shares he has to pay tax on it. Therefore the tax rate is not 0%. It is closer to 24%, just deferred right now. To say it is 0 is deceptive.
The methodology was terrible for example when illegal immigrants have kids in the US, the education and benefits are all counted as benefits for American citizens and since most illegal immigrants are younger and male, they estimate that they pay more taxes while receiving less benefits than citizens.
@BoamReho@MatthewMacland2@edels0n@raymadoff They are included in that statistic though. Bezos paid 23% effective tax rate while Musk has paid about 30%. They are a bit lower due to how long term capital gains are taxed. However they are included.
@gabriel_zucman Zucmanโs 15% effective tax rate on Bezos is misleadingโit lumps in Amazonโs corporate profits & unrealized gains as his personal income. ProPublica IRS data shows he paid ~23% on actual realized income ($973M taxes on $4.22B reported, 2014-2018).
