You are foolish if you keep voting these people into power.
Leopold of Belgium ruled Congo as his private property for 23 years. He cut off the limbs of Congolese who did not meet their daily quota on the plantation. At the end of his rule, he had killed 15million Congolese people. But we are taught only about Hitler. 😭😭
My parents were married for 33 years.
I never once heard the word “Divorce” in our house.
Not during fights, money stress, hard seasons. Never.
Before my wedding, my father pulled me aside and said a few things that still live in my head to this day....
I want the kind of money that lets me show up for my people. Even if I can’t fix everything, i want to at least soften the moment. To send food. To send transport fare. To send ice-cream money on a hard day.
I’m tired of only saying “sorry.”
I don't usually comment or post about celebrities' personal lives.
But since the timeline has been flooded by Nandi Madiba's statement about giving black men grace, I have just been shocked by the response.
Why is it that a lot of the detractors to the statement reference money?
Yeah money does alleviate a lot of issues. BUT, there are plenty of people ... Hell generations before us raised families and black men were good fathers even when they were literally, legally, subjugated by the government.
Is the man's worth only seen in his pocket?
Do broke men not deserve love, respect and affirmations?
If our whole way of looking at companionship is based on money, how then are we surprised at the degradation of courting, relationships and marriages right now? If it's all transactional, then there inevitably gonna be a sense of ownership... The owner, that's he who pays and is only seen through his pocket, will assert his dominance through the prism of "I pay so I own you". Social ills like GBV and femicide thrive in that reality.
We complain that the Black Man is losing his place in the sun, the boy child is getting left behind, then now we chastise a woman for elevating Black men so that her sons and those of her fellow sisters, regardless of the social or economic status, can know that they are seen and valued.
Kgante le batlang. Nifunani?!
Or is this just another social media rot of performative outrage, when you know what she said is not a bad thing.
Is the congregation is The Church Of The Perpetuallly Aggrieved just singing the same hymns for Elon's tithe?
Ngim' owrong? What am I missing, if I am.
Black South African men used to blame White people for their poverty.
Then they blamed Black women.
Now they blame foreigners.
Soon, they'll be blaming robots.
All because they refuse to take accountability, organize themselves & keep money/power within their circles.
A Girl will be earning R3500 per month. Yet have an iPhone 15 Pro Max, rent an apartment worth R5000 per month, Designer bags, eat out, changing hairstyles & pop champagne every weekend. Yet still be able to provide for their families & themselves. Ladies what’s the secret?
Women are buying homes & investing in share portfolios.
Men are buying women meals, drinks, flights, baecations, booking them ubers, paying for nails & wigs, and paying their rent.
