I donโt have Mbappe as my No.1 but to say anyone but him should win and then bring up arguments that can be used against any other candidate is just dumb
Let's just dissect 99% of the nonsense, 1 by 1.
1) "Kylian left and PSG won/Real lost"
He himself states Kylian leaving PSG/joining Real wasn't the reason for those results so this point is trash. Both teams were on a rise/decline and one team signed players and the other didn't.
2) "He left PSG to win the UCL and win the ballon d'or, so why should he win it for not winning an UCL?"
Trash point again. Mbappe literally told you he felt like he was the best player even when he was at PSG. LOL. It's also obviously true that when you leave PSG to a club like Real/Barca, your chances of winning the BDR skyrockets. As a PSG player you only have a chance to win the ballon d'or if you win the CL/WC. Regardless whatever Mbappe feels is so irrelevant as to whether he deserves the ballon d'or.
3) "He scored less penalty goals than Muriqi"
The league is Mbappe's least consistent body of work but he played 530 less minutes than Muriqi and since when do penalty goals not count? He won 4 of those penalties by himself.
4) Mentioned 13 of his 15 CL goals coming against weaker sides, but RMA struggled against Benfica and he was injured against City. He still scored 2 goals against Bayern so he did what he could given the situation?
Not to mention, he was top scorer in the CL again despite playing less mins. Compare it to Kane, the 2nd top scorer. Kane had a 1039 mins played, Mbappe had 912.
And it's so lazy to hate on him for scoring against the smaller teams, since he does it against the big ones, but also โ Madrid literally got dropped by a 3rd division team when Mbappe was out.
5) "He won the golden boot due to a 3rd place game, that Kane could've won had he played it."
He was still joint top scorer even if he doesn't play it. Kane was on 6 goals while Mbappe was on 8, so if both don't play or play it, Mbappe is the one to come out on top either way. Conveniently we don't mention the fact that Kane got hardcarried by Jude in the big games and that he completely disappeared.
6) "His overall play left a lot to be desired"
This is straight up not true. Mbappe's overall play in the first half of the season when the game revolved around him was insanely well. In the 2nd half of the season his overall game went down due to injuries. All things considered, he still had 100 dribbles completed and 99 chances created in the span of 44 games for RMA. Those are not bad stats for someone who scores as much as he does. I won't mention the WC because we all saw how well he played there. You're not gonna look me straight in the face and tell me someone like Kane has a "better overall play" than Mbappe lol.
Now the worst part about all of this is that it critiques Mbappe so heavily, without realizing one key part:
Kylian Mbappe's performances for a broken Real Madrid are actually quite impressive. When you look at the dressing room drama, the way Real Madrid played โ what Kylian did was just unreal. He kept us floating for half a season until his injuries hit. If you compare the way Bayern play or Barca, their dressing room is in a better state, their overall game is a lot easier, they have structure, everything. Kylian found himself in a team that abandoned it's coach midway and lost all structure.
Whether you think he should win the ballon d'or is one thing, but pretending he has no say whatsoever is ridiculous. Top scorer in CL, top scorer in WC, top scorer in La Liga and yes his overall game is incredible despite playing for one of the worst RMA I've laid my eyes on ๐
