🎵 “By the Euphrates River…” 🎶 After some time of reminiscing on our favorite memories, we had to bing back one of our favorite musical learning songs about ancient Mesopotamia. #musichaspower#hooverhawks
What an incredible celebration! Thank you to Mrs. Zingler, Mrs. Gibbel, our PTA and the 6th Grade Committee. You all had a hand in organizing today with so many special touches that the students will always remember. Thank you! #hooverhawks
Field Day was a bit of an emotional roller coaster with the rain putting us on pause for a bit, but we still had a ton of fun making the most with what we had! #hooverhawks#fieldday
6th Graders spent our half day engaged in many teambuilding activities to drive home SEL skills we have practiced throughout the year: problem-solving, cooperation, perspective taking, living all the 8 Keys, and just plain ol’ having fun together! #hooverhawks
Room 211 and 212 spent Shared Reading and Writing time collaborating outside for “O” day. Students worked to read and annotate key details on our text about Energy and then had a lot of fun debating topics to kick off our last unit of writing! #hooverhawks
Another successful math review- game show style! 🚨 Students just wrapped up our last module on angle relationships before we start reviewing for our trimester final today. #hooverhawks#thefutureisinthisclassroom#weare54
When 6th grade students move onto junior high, I always hope they find their niche and joy in something they love. I anxiously wait for the times they come back to visit to share that they have. This visit from the @D54Keller Chorus did just that for my teacher ❤️. #hooverhawks
Way to go Mackenzie, Ruben, Alvaro, Rishika, and Lexi! They built the tallest free standing tower yesterday. Students were pranking me with the “silent game,” so they added an extra challenge on top of my challenge when having to communicate without talking! #hooverhawks
These kids brought their A-game when pranking me today. Silent game, whoopee cushion, a hidden walkie talkie they’d beep throughout the day, and being frozen by the “magic xylophone” for all you Bluey lovers out there! Such a great class and a fun day back after break.
Writing was SO MUCH fun today when we brainstormed as a class the start of a parallel narrative. The laughter and creative energy was contagious! Gone are the days of “I don’t have anything to write about!” #hooverhawks#weare54
Sharing their biographies with a partner in our “celebration” stage of our writing process. Their partner was challenged with reading and illustrating a cover based on the information they learned from their classmate’s writing. We ended with a gallery walk to share! #hooverhawks
“Muslims across the world are preparing for a month of fasting, spirituality and reflection this Ramadan. Each year millions of Muslims…challenge their self-restraint and bring them closer to God.” -USA Today #ramadan
Last week we celebrated and participated in Engineering week. From fascinating STEM fair projects, a civil engineering presentation from IDOT, to a mechanical engineering lesson from classmates. What an amazing week! #hooverhawks
Check out these proud inventors! Students picked an invention/advancement from the Gupta Empire and created a #sharktank pitch to explain its benefits, purpose, materials, etc. So many went above and beyond, even making prototypes!
