This is foolishness. When my son was about 2 he broke our TV. He was a baby, so I bought another one.

One day I took him (now 9) to soccer practice and he walked away from his coach. I asked where he was going. “I’m just taking a stroll.”

My anger rose. I gave him a dirty slap and told him I have other things to do with my time and money. If he doesn’t want to practice, we can cancel the whole thing right now.

Since that day his energy and drive increased.

My anger is not because of the money but because it is irresponsible of him to act that way.

Over 30 young boys were arrested in Niger and locked in an overcrowded, unventilated cell with extreme heat by @official_NSCDC. They reportedly banged on the door and were ignored.

Reminds me of Joseph Stalin, the Russian dictator who once came to a Politburo meeting holding a chicken in his hand. During the meeting, he began plucking its feathers one by one. The helpless chicken cried out in pain, but he continued until every feather had been removed.

When the chicken was completely naked, Stalin let it go. He then took out some chicken feed from his pocket and began to feed the chicken from his palm. After sometime, Stalin walked away. Surprisingly, the chicken followed him wherever he went. And even when he sat down, the chicken quietly climbed onto his lap and sat there.

Stalin then explained to his surprised Party members; "This chicken represents the people. You must torture them, brutalize them, and take everything away from them. Then when you give them a little, just peanuts, they will treat you like a hero and worship you."
