Emergency crews have secured the area and are working with partner agencies to assess the situation and mitigate any potential hazards to the public.
Dutch Village Road is closed, and traffic disruptions may impact surrounding streets and neighbourhoods.

📢 TRAFFIC ADVISORY (May 26, 2026, 10:30 a.m.): Channel-Port aux Basques RCMP is currently responding to an overturned commercial transport trailer blocking a westbound lane of the Trans-Canada Highway in the Wreckhouse area.
⚠️High winds are impacting travel conditions. Although the TCH is currently passable, RCMP NL urges all motorists to drive with patience and proceed with extreme caution until conditions improve.

Update: Remains located in search for missing baby
The search for a missing newborn baby in Halifax has concluded. Human remains of an infant were located.
New information redirected the search to Prospect Road and the surrounding area today. Remains were located at approximately 3:20 p.m. in a wooded area off Old Coach Road.
The Nova Scotia Medical Examiner Service will be conducting an autopsy to determine the cause and manner of death.
The 23-year-old woman in hospital remains in critical condition. Police believe the woman experienced a medical emergency and do not believe her condition is the result of violence.
On Saturday, four people known to the woman were taken into custody for questioning. Two have been released and two have now been charged.
Sukhpreet Singh, a 23-year-old man who is a relative of the woman, and his wife, 26-year-old Ramandeep Kaur, will appear in Halifax provincial court on Monday to face the following charges:
- Concealing the body of a child
- Obstruction
- Indignity to a dead body
The investigation remains ongoing.
Police extend condolences to the infant’s loved ones.

Police looking for missing newborn baby
Police are urgently looking for a missing newborn baby in Halifax.
On May 22 at approximately 9:40 p.m., officers were notified of a woman in hospital in life-threatening condition who appeared to have just given birth. The baby has not yet been located.
Police and Nova Scotia Ground Search and Rescue are currently searching the area of 214 Willett Street, Halifax. The public is urged to stay away from the area to allow investigators to conduct a thorough search.
The public is asked to search their own properties and report anything suspicious to police immediately.
Four people are currently in police custody undergoing questioning. There have been no charges laid at this stage.

Police warn of possible drink tampering incidents
Police are urging people to keep a close eye on their drinks and each other while socializing.
On May 17, officers responded to two separate incidents involving women who became ill and showed signs of impairment after reportedly consuming small amounts of alcohol. Both women required medical attention.
Police are investigating whether the drinks may have been tampered with. Neither of these incidents have yet been confirmed by medical analysis and both incidents are still being investigated.
The incidents took place at different establishments and, at this stage in the investigation, there is no evidence to suggest they are related.
Administering a drug to a person without their knowledge or consent is a criminal offence.
Police are reminding people not to leave drinks unattended and are encouraging bar staff, patrons, friends and family members to look out for one another.
Symptoms experienced by a tampered drink are sudden and can manifest within 5 to 30 minutes after consumption and the effects can sometimes last up to 12 hours.
Common symptoms may include:
-Dizziness
-Drowsiness
-Confusion
-Difficulty walking
-Nausea/vomiting
-Blurred vision
-Memory loss
-Unconsciousness/passing out
-Difficulty breathing
