Martinelli gave Arsenal some incredible moments. The noise and celebrations when he scored that late winner against City at the Emirates in 2023, the bedlam in the away end at Stamford Bridge and last season’s equaliser against City. But that moment in the Bernabeu, for anyone who was lucky enough to be there, was so, so special. As was what followed afterwards. His chant rung through the streets of Madrid all night after that game.
A superb servant to the club, who gave everything while he was here. He felt like an honorary Hale End graduate.
Hope he gets the chance to come back to the Emirates at some point.
@UpTheVilla_AVFC How can Villa have been the better side without registering a shot on target? Arsenal didn’t get out of third gear and still left with the points. No need to cope.
Mikel Arteta: “Arsenal is one of the deepest loves I’ve ever felt in my life. I feel it at the same level as my family & my kids - the same love, passion - but one immense responsibility attached because you can tell how much it means to people & how much you can affect their happiness.” ❤️🏡 [@eighteen_86]
