Here's a lesson in class for you elbows up folks.

Last night I went to the Buffalo Bills home opener. I know, I "dared" to go into the States (in reality the border agents are friendly and Americans friendly). During the playing of the Canadian anthem, not only did the crowd not boo our anthem (Blue Jays' fans I'm looking at you), but they sung along. Like all of the crowd. Only when the French part was sung did my fellow Bills' fans have a problem. The guy next to me said that it's because only the English version is played at Sabres' games.

The new found "patriots" can learn a lesson here.

Canada is basically the last big stronghold of the British Empire in the western hemisphere, since it still keeps the King as head of state and runs on the old-school British parliamentary system. While the U.S. rebelled, Canada was built to keep British connection alive in North America. Turning Canada into the 51st state would be a massive upgrade for personal freedom. It would trade Canada's government regulated Charter of Rights <where the government can use loopholes like the Notwithstanding Clause to overrule citizens> for the unbeatable protections of the U.S. Bill of Rights, putting true power back in the hands of the people.
