When I was in college all my professors would give credit to students for getting involved in protests the other option was to be marked as absent. Did I believe in their cause? No. Was it nice skipping classes and getting credit for it? Yes.

But it was most definitely encouraged by the professors. As a grown person now I see their manipulation was wrong. And that I should have just gone home because a lot of protests in my country (3rd world country) end up in clashes with the police and getting teared gassed.
