Spool Cars - Design-Engineer-Reflect 3D modeling (TinkerCAD), metal working, laser cutting, fabrication. Cars traveled 20’-45’ powered by a single rubber band. This was a head scratching challenge for 8th graders.

Get a handle on safety. Here’s a great idea to keep “that other hand” safe while working with knives. Secure the work and create a safe place to put the other hand. I use clamps. @SevenBridgesMS@dailystem@chappaqua_csd@JennyGieras
Sustainability, Community, and Independent Operation of the Laser Cutter is our goal for all 8th graders this year. 1st challenge, make a Garden Marker and support @JennyGieras and the Garden Club. @chappaqua_csd @SevenBridgesMS @ChappaquaSTEM
Tweet! Tweet! Prime houses available for rent. Our 1st round of 6th graders “skill” building with birdhouses. @SevenBridgesMS@DrAPease @7B_STEAM @chappaqua_csd
6th graders 1st touch with a drill press. Machinery can become safer and more user friendly for beginners with proper jigs and clamping. @chappaqua_csd@SevenBridgesMS@ChappaquaSTEM
Students had so much fun building Bug Hotels this morning in a STEAM and Tech Ed collaboration for advisory and @EarthDay . Thanks @7B_STEAM and Ms. Gieras. @chappaqua_csd@ChappaquaSTEM@7BSevenBi
Why did birdhouse building ever become so taboo in Tech Ed. Their is so much to learn through this project. High level of excitement and engagement. 1st steps, layout. 6th graders building skills for the STEAM center. Fitting for Earth Day. #weare7b@ChappaquaSTEM@chappaqua_csd
3D printer project update: our dedicated group of 8th graders has created a system of data collection & evaluation to help us determine which machines we should invest in for future student use. All on their own time! #wearechappaqua#weare7b@7BTechEd@CSF_Chappaqua@LHRICit
The Seven Bridges STEAM tool cabinet has been built and organized. Complete with a battery charging station. Every tool has an organized and easy to find location. This looks so good I might have to redo the Tech Ed cabinet. @SevenBridgesMS@ChappaquaSTEM @7B_STEAM @chappaqua_csd
Exciting development! With the help of some eager 8th graders, our new 3D printers are unboxed and ready for setup! Big (and tiny) things coming to @SevenBridgesMS ..stay tuned @CSF_Chappaqua!! @7BTechEd @7B_STEAM
It worked! Geodesic (Dome), Isosceles, and Equilateral, Oh My! I created these triangles while building skills with the Laser Cutter and AutoCad. Research that is shaping up to be something big. Lets see what happens next? #weare7b@SevenBridgesMS@ChappaquaSTEM@chappaqua_csd
Greenhouse gases released while manufacturing battery-electric cars account for a higher portion of life-cycle emissions.
Battery production is powering ahead, and sales are growing. Material emissions are projected to rise more than 60% by 2040 from 18% https://t.co/XUWHBRyycG
Tech Ed includes 15 min. of maintenance. Ownership and understanding of the CLRM is cultured. These 2 Ss are gaining experience through repetition as they prepare supplies for Q2. How can Ss learn through the use of your CLRM? @SevenBridgesMS no@chappaqua_csd
We are back. Ten weeks in tech class building skills and preparation to meet the needs of the design process at HG. They nailed it!🤣@chappaqua_csd@SevenBridgesMS#weare7b
Today a STU used an extension cord as a straight edge. This could be a very creative practice in theory. However when accuracy is needed it is important to use the correct tools. Skill building is so important for a strong STEAM education. @SevenBridgesMS#wearechappaqua#weare7b
Earlier in the year, Ss worked on a project to improve the courtyards.
Top 3 improvements included.
1.wifi
2.places to sit
3.shade
We made a start by building 2 Adirondack chairs with @kristan_pozzuto. Great job 8th graders! More chairs to come next year.
