I was at a POS stand this evening when an elderly man, probably in his 70s, came to withdraw ₦1,000.
He asked the POS lady to speak with his son, who transferred the money immediately.
She counted ₦900 and handed it to him.
The old man said softly, “The charge is usually ₦50, not ₦100.”
But the woman snapped, “Baba, abeg no stress me. Na ₦100 charge for ₦1k.”
The man looked devastated. You could tell he had already calculated what that ₦950 would buy, and that extra ₦50 meant everything.
I stepped in and told the POS lady to give him ₦10,000.
Omor… the old man laid flat on the ground and held my legs 😭
The real problem is when ignorance is worn as a badge of honor and expertise is dismissed as elitism. At the same time, those correcting others often do it in a condescending way, which only fuels the backlash. Both sides are contributing to the cycle.
The 'Olodo Uprising' isn't really about intelligence versus ignorance. It's more a reaction to how social media has made people feel comfortable speaking confidently on topics they don't fully understand. The issue isn't that people don't know things, everyone has gaps in knowledg
I know a company who work from Monday to Saturday yet doesn't give public holidays. This is total nonsense yet this company pay total nonsense salary at the end of the month. Imagine paying 76,000 in this hard working condition
The Federal government/State government need to start sanctioning some private companies who makes it compulsory for their workers to be at work on a public holidays. Some are so stupid that they can't even give one out of the two days declared by the Federal govt...
Men are literally the cause of this BBL pandemic currently happening all over the world especially in Nigeria. They literally worship big ass, pressuring our young ladies to go do body modification.
You do BBL ,you are a prostitute
You have in mind to do BBL, you are a prostitute
You think of doing BBL but you can never get the money, you are a prostitute
The end
I doubt you would have been a medical doctor if your first 30 years was in the UK. You definitely won't have been able to afford it or would been indebted to the government of the UK to the tunes of over 70k pounds.
In your 30yrs in Nigeria, the government subsidized your education and made it easy for you to earn the capital with which you embark on your 6yrs journey in the UK. The 30yrs in 9ja gave you a solid foundation upon which your growth in the UK was built.
You should be smart enough to know this but social media validation trumps intelligence most times.
