More than 400 human skeletons found in Sri Lanka's largest ever mass grave.
Sunday (21), excavation staff unearthed seven more skeletons rising the total number of bodies found to 405. Investigators have recovered 377 of them. 9 bodies grouped together have also been identified.
🔔We need to send the following people to the re-education camp:
Those who walk (in crowded places)
* too slowly.
* diagonally.
* out of phase, with sudden changes in velocity (speed and direction).
* hand-in-hand as a group of 3 or more.
* aimlessly.
* eyes fixed at the phone.
Over 300 Skeletons unearthed from the Chemmani mass grave in just over a year!
On the 72nd day of excavations at Sri Lanka's second largest mass grave in northern Sri Lanka investigators found 6 more skeletons including two of children bringing the total number of bodies to 302

The Police had acted irregularly and delayed arresting Pallegama Hemarathana, the Atamasthana Adhipathi, who is suspected of child rape.

If the JMO's report states that the child was raped, why do we, including the mainstream media, keep referring to it as 'sexual abuse'? Call it what it is: statutory rape.
I hope this softening or euphemistic framing of a serious crime is not intentional.
Shameful and terrifying to see the ocean of plastic that 'tsunamied' into Lake, canals and ending up in Mahaweli during the previous three days of heavy rains. Every suburb is middle class in Kandy neither Poor nor illiterate. KMC collects plastic almost every other day. YET..
As power costs continue to climb in Sri Lanka, I still don’t understand why the government isn’t providing tax relief on solar panels, batteries, and other equipment. Isn’t it good if more of the population moves towards renewables and reduces the strain on the grid?
Things I utterly condemn:
– Children being forced to become monks or priests
– Celibate clergy preaching to us about sex education
As a doctor, I’ve seen enough child abuse by clergy.
Be done with the silence. These cover-ups must end now.
“In the Sri Lankan school system they never teach you these things. We were clueless.”
Story of a priest named Gregory Fernando abusing children and never faced legal consequences for his crimes. Instead, the church protected him.
Is this why cardinal Ranjith is against Sex Ed? An oblivious child is the target.

Horrifying expose by the @ExaminerLK on the Sri Lankan Catholic Church’s cover up of sexual abuse of young boys.
No wonder Cardinal Ranjith wants to keep children ignorant on sexual health and rights. So his priests can continue to molest young kids and get away with it.
Pap smear is a simple test used to screen for cervical cancer in women.
In Sri Lanka, women over 35 years can get a free Pap smear at the Well Woman Clinic in their MOH area.
Yet, despite being free, only about 18% of eligible women actually go for the test...
Showing how much more awareness & encouragement are needed.
Coalgate update from @TimesOnlineLK:
1) The price bids for Lanka Coal Company's (LCC) emergency tender were opened last Wednesday.
2) Surprise 1: Trident Chemphar, the current supplier of problematic coal, bid again, quoting US$20.6 per MT less than the next lowest bidder.
The world is seriously preparing for a fuel shortage (regardless of whether or not it happens). But apart from a gentle "use less" message, it's business as usual in #SriLanka. No shame in issuing a stronger message. It's not a political defeat.
