What was needed was Iran destroying Israel's F35, F15 and F16 planes on the ground. As Israel did to Jamal Nasser's fleet, in 1967.
Perhaps the Iranians couldn't, but I doubt that.
Iran should not lose a single opportunity to lay some real hurt on Israel.

Putin wants Iran to be a regional economic force not just a bad guy in every neocon' lexicon.

My engineer's mind, used to moving logically from point to point, has been scrambled.
When Iran counter-attacked Israel, its passage was defended by Jordan, which shot down some drones. When Israel counter attacked did Jordan block Israeli objects? Jordan's King would not dare.

I understand Israel just made a limited counter-attack on Iran. Did Iran make a counter-counter attack on Israel? Albeit limited because Putin does not want unbridled expansion? I am hoping Scott Ritter or Col Douglas Macgregor will shed more light on this war with on hand tied.

Iran recently struck directly at Israel, causing major damage. Here we are again: Israel unbending, Iran no longer shackled by the previous unknown of a direct attack on Israel. Israel has threatened Iran's nuclear facilities. I predict that then Iran will go after Dimona.

In that scenario, one may witness the disappearance of Israel as a nation. Taking out its major cities and its nuclear assets would not be impossible for a superpower given its small spatial footprint. The "End Days" evangelicals might hurry up the Apocalypse via fission/fusion.

As I have written repeatedly, Iran is in a bind. It cannot NOT RESPOND to Israel's attack on its Syrian Consulate, yet it knows that it's a trap for destructive counter-retaliation.

Following the inevitability of acquired momentum of decades, two outcomes might emerge: Considerable material and economic damage both to Israel and to the geriatric theocracy of Iran.
A third outcome is fearsome to envisage. Russia might simply have to defend Iran militarily.

@Kahlissee @medeabenjamin I was informed that the Iftar invitation was turned down by those invited because of the White House policy on Gaza. Perhaps some did not but others attended.
(Iftar is the breaking of the fast in the evening soon after sunset).

Not much. Except an earthquake in NJ. Iran hasn't attacked Israel. Yet. Biden has issued another toothless warning to Israel. Mehdi Hasan thinks Trump would be even worse for Gaza.
Maybe.
But Trump would be a man about it, not an IMPOTUS like Biden.
