Strengthening community–security collaboration in Kilifi through dialogue and coordination. 🤝🌍

The @NCTC_Kenya convened community leaders, members of the Kilifi County Engagement Forum (CEF), and national and local administrators to advance early warning systems, build trust, and strengthen coordinated responses under the National Strategy for Preventing and Countering Violent Extremism (NSPCVE). 🚨🕊️

Youth and Women for Peace and Sustainable Development (YOWPSUD) participated in the forum, reaffirming its commitment to community-driven prevention approaches. Through its work in youth empowerment, women’s leadership, and community resilience, including initiatives such as Mwanamke Imara and youth mentorship programs, YOWPSUD continues to support grassroots early warning, strengthen dialogue between communities and security actors, and contribute to the implementation of the County Action Plan on PCVE in Kilifi.

The forum highlighted the importance of multi-stakeholder collaboration in building sustainable peace, preventing radicalization, and strengthening resilience within communities.

Day 1 of the #MwanamkeImara Women Intra-Learning Exchange in Kwale County brought together women from Security & Justice institutions and community leaders to reflect on the evolving role of women in PCVE.

Through interactive discussions on the PCVE landscape, intersectionality, and women as strategic actors in peacebuilding, one message stood out clearly, women are not just victims of insecurity; they are powerful agents of prevention and change.

The conversations also linked strongly with the priorities of Kenya’s NSPCVE 2025–2030, particularly on localization of prevention efforts, multi-stakeholder collaboration, and strengthening community-based early warning systems. Empowering women to understand their role within these frameworks is key to advancing the Women, Peace and Security agenda and ensuring that prevention approaches are inclusive, community-driven, and sustainable.

Through Mwanamke Imara, we continue to create spaces where women can learn, lead, and shape solutions that strengthen peace, security, and resilience in our communities.

YOWPSUD was honored to participate in @NCTC_Kenya 3-day Regional Communication Strategic Workshop on PCVE alongside media practitioners, journalists, CSOs, and county & national government stakeholders.

Through rich dialogue and collaboration, we developed practical activities that will feed into County Action Plans and strengthen alignment between the media sector and the Communication & Technology Working Group in implementing the NSPCVE.

This engagement reaffirmed the power of proactive reporting, technology, and partnerships in preventing violent extremism and prmoting resilient, peaceful communities. Together, we are shaping narratives that protect lives and uphold national values.

Over 40 stakeholders from national and county government, media, creative arts, influencers, and civil society convened in @KilifiCountyGov to deepen a shared understanding that clear, ethical, and responsible communication is critical in preventing and countering violent extremism, addressing harmful narratives, and strengthening community trust.

Implemented under the Kenya–EU partnership and aligned to Kenya’s #PCVE Strategy 2025–2030, the Communication and Media Stakeholders' Capacity Building Forum strengthened skills in planning and implementing effective PCVE campaigns and responsible messaging.

Together, we continue to build resilient communities, credible voices, and social cohesion.
