Julalumpa (also known as Shernara) built her entire early career on BJYX — using Xiao Zhan and Wang Yibo’s likeness, their personalities, their dynamic, even specific details fans would immediately recognise. She monetised those works, sold paid fic, printed physical books, and earned consistently from content shaped around two real people who never gave permission for their identities to be commercialised.
She profited off them, their popularity, their fandom and made steady income off their names and likeness for years. After earning from their image for years, she never once supported either of them.
Now she’s trying to pass those same stories off as “original work”, except the “original” part is questionable when the character templates, occupational setups, relationship dynamics, and even symbolic little markers (like racing numbers tied to their real identities) are copied straight from BJYX. All she did was changed names and tweak little details like instead of Racer No. 85, it’s Racer No. 87.
Fanfic is fun, transformative, and built on shared joy. But when someone uses real people’s images to build a career, monetises that work, edits it just enough to avoid being called out, and then acts as though she created everything from nothing, that crosses a line, that is ethically wrong.

I am also asking @GMMTV to think again about adapting her novel into a series after knowing all this.

#Indonesia: We are following closely the spate of violence in the context of nationwide protests over parliamentary allowances, austerity measures, and alleged use of unnecessary or disproportionate force by security forces. We stress the importance of dialogue to address the public’s concerns.
The authorities must uphold the rights to peaceful assembly and freedom of expression while maintaining order, in line with international norms and standards, in relation to the policing of public assemblies. All security forces, including the military when deployed in a law enforcement capacity, must comply with the basic principles on the use of force and firearms by law enforcement officials.
We call for prompt, thorough, and transparent investigations into all alleged violations of international human rights law, including with respect to use of force.
It is also important that the media is permitted to report on events freely and independently.
