Update on the @hyatt incident: Your voices, in concert with NASP’s extensive direct advocacy, have resulted in progress! NASP President Celeste Malone and ED Kathleen Minke had a lengthy conversation with the GM of @HyattDenver and the SVP for Global EDI for @Hyatt corporate.
The Hyatt Denver GM reached out to Celeste over the weekend with yet another non-response but asking to speak. Her response back is pictured below. Core to her message was: 2/
HASP stands in solidarity with Dr. Celeste Malone, NASP, and the BIPOC community, and demands that Hyatt address the racially motivated incident and meet the reparative demands enumerated by the National Association of School Psychologists.

Thank you @cmonique1023 for your continued strength. We’re with you on this. @DenverHyatt and @Hyatt, #NASP2023 has left Denver, but we are not going away. We will not be stonewalled.
Amidst this, we have witnessed the power of Celeste’s circle of colleagues, friends, and the broader community who immediately wrapped themselves around her. We witnessed Celeste’s strength and grace in this situation she should not have had to endure. (11/13)
HASP stands proudly with @cmonique1023. Unacceptable, inexcusable, and certainly unexpected at a time of great celebration. Clearly much work is still to be done; we are ready. Thank you to #nasp2023 for continuing to fight racism and foster social justice while demanding action.
NASP wants to acknowledge publicly that a totally unacceptable and harmful incident occurred last night in the Hyatt hotel that directly affected President Celeste Malone, her friends, colleagues, and family, and by extension the Black community. 1/
For #NationalSchoolPsychologyWeek, we asked practitioners at schools across the country: What’s one thing you wish more people knew about your job?
Here’s what some of them shared about their work to support school communities & students’ well-being. #SchoolPsychWeek
Last week, NASP sent a letter to Congress advocating for a fourth stimulus bill addressing the #Covid_19 pandemic.
Our recommendations included:
-Investments in IDEA
-Investments in comprehensive school mental health
-Increased access to Internet
..and more. #NASPadvocates
