I’ve just signed a 21st emergency proclamation related to COVID-19. The proclamation officially ends the inter-county Safe Travels program, and beginning June 15, there will be no travel restrictions for anyone traveling within the state from one island to another.

Today I announced that Hawaiʻi is dropping its mask mandate in outdoor settings – effective immediately. This is across all islands. I spoke with county mayors and we agree this is the right next step. We’ve been seeing fewer cases of COVID and have made progress on vaccinations.

The Lanai Cat Sanctuary sits on 3.5 Acres of land on the small island of Lanai. We have many fenced-in enclosures that keep the cats safe and allow them plenty of room to roam around and enjoy their life. Can't beat that ocean view! Who wants to visit us?

Big congrats to Lāna'i class of 2021!! Our community created a way for our students to be honored & celebrated while staying COVID safe. What a yr it was for them! May their futures be filled with possibilities and may they carry the love of their island home wherever they go 🎓

Graduation 2021 on Lāna'i. On the side of the highway, in empty Palawai basin stands a stage, a socially distanced set of chairs and a pair of port-o-potties. Our Lāna'i community is resilient and resourceful. They're making it work! Congrats 2021 graduates 🎓
