Iizuka said that everything they revealed at SGF (CrossWorlds DLC, Sonic Pico Park) have one similar thread that tie them together. That thread is “to have fun together, to experience these fun games with your friends. And that’s really what we want to do for the 35th anniversary, it’s one of the key experiences we want to have.”

They also tie the Live concert to this, “and there’s going to be other experiences we want our fans to get excited about being a part of.”

The slower sense of speed might be due to the camera settings being set to “looks playable to normies”. Remember that most of Sonic Racing CrossWorlds was promoted with slower speed modes and with the dynamic camera turned off just to appeal to the general audience.
