💔 Father of Two Dies After Stepping In to Save Girl From Being Strangled, Family Says

A 49-year-old Ohio father is being remembered as a hero after family members say he lost his life while trying to save a young woman from a violent assault.

According to relatives, Billy Grooms and his son were at a gas station in Hillsboro, Ohio, on Sunday when they witnessed a girl being strangled. Family members say Grooms stepped in and told the suspect to let her go.

They allege the suspect then got into a truck and intentionally ran Grooms over.

Grooms suffered multiple broken bones and a traumatic brain injury. Despite doctors’ efforts, his family says his injuries were too severe to overcome.

The young woman Grooms helped later released a statement, calling him a hero and saying she believes his actions saved her life.

Grooms leaves behind his wife and two sons. His family says he chose to be an organ donor and will continue helping others through those donations.

Police say the investigation remains ongoing.

Three people were hospitalized after a sexual assault and stabbing broad daylight in Chicago’s Loop on Friday afternoon, authorities said.

Three people were hospitalized after a sexual assault and stabbing broad daylight in Chicago's Loop on Friday afternoon, authorities said.

Around 4 p.m.., a 24-year-old woman was walking on the sidewalk near North State Street and East Lake Street when she was sexually assaulted by a 31-year-old man, police said. The 31-year-old man then became involved in a physical altercation with a 25-year-old man.

A 36-year-old woman in the area then pulled out a knife and stabbed the 31-year-old man in the right eye and the 25-year-old man in the left wrist, police said.

Both men and the 36-year-old woman were transported by authorities to local hospitals. The 24-year-old woman refused emergency medical care at the scene, police said.

Police could be seen investigating in the area, with crime scene tape stretched across North State Street.

No additional information was immediately available.
