Years ago when I was working at a bookstore, a little black boy came in wearing a Spider-Man shirt.

I asked him who his favorite Spider-Man was.

He replied, “Peter Parker.”

I told him mine was Miles.

He didn’t know who Miles was, so I showed him the cover of a comic with Miles Morales on it.

I watched a look of confusion come over his face.
