As #BlackHistoryMonth draws to a close, we would like to share some reflections from some of our Diversity and Inclusion Group members about the importance of allyship.
Just became BVNA President today 🎉!!
Caught up with @BritishVets President, @MalcM, to talk about both vet and nurse challenges, and how we plan to work together to help the whole veterinary team #whatvnsdo#planetrvn@bvnauk
And of course, the obligatory selfie!
@bvnauk working hard for VNs - gathering the evidence required to protect the title, which is part of the legislative changes proposed in the legislation report https://t.co/45V1fpvLgF
@PyeRVN96 I’d 100% prefer they asked me rather than asking a random FB group with the wrong, poor or vet hating advice, so I will always answer and respond

@thenameismclean @theRCVS I was at the event, I wasn’t in that group. There were a small number in each group. The context was that the idea was explored. It sits under ‘some ideas’ but the idea presented by the group sits below. In a healthy discussion you discuss things that won’t move forward as well.
@thenameismclean @theRCVS Don’t disagree, but the report also doesn’t say that we should. It simply says it was discussed. It’s the problem with all journalism, out of context and without reading the full report it causes anger and negativity.
@thenameismclean @theRCVS Absolutely - and but loads of options had to have discussion, if it’s happens elsewhere, ie USA as stated in the comments this could be why it was discussed. It was meant to be thinking outside the box of all options, doesn’t mean they were all viable.
@thenameismclean @theRCVS ‘although it acknowledged challenges around how degrees are funded currently’ is also attached to that statement & it was only something explored by the group rather than a change that needs to come in - in a section exploring ‘readiness for work’ - context is everything.

As #ImACeleb gears up for tonight, a reminder of huge concern across #TeamVet about treatment of animals year after year. There’s no justification for insects, rats and reptiles suffering in the name of ‘entertainment’ – please join our calls for @ITV to #GetAnimalsOutOfThere
Brilliant engagement on #animalwelfare priorities at our virtual Westminster briefing just now. Thanks to all who attended to hear the #teamvet view on areas including the Kept Animals Bill, #animalsentience and #sustainability.
