I posted this on Reddit, but got deleted by their bot saying « this is not a courtroom » the moment I posted this. I hope you lose this trial…and lose clients. No one should support bullies like you.

I’m not saying Whoop is a bad product. I’ve used it for a long time, and overall I think it does a lot well. But it also has issues, and that is obvious if you spend any time reading user feedback. That is normal. No product is perfect.

What I do not get is why a smaller company building in the same space immediately ends up facing a lawsuit. From the outside, it comes off a bit bully-ish.

The graph/UI argument especially does not fully convince me. A lot of health apps are going to show similar kinds of data in similar ways. And honestly, on some points, including the three circles, it is not even clear to me that Bevel was the one copying.

A lot of the underlying data also comes from ecosystems that already exist — Apple Health, Garmin, Oura, Strava, etc. So as a user, this does not really feel like “protecting innovation.” It feels more like trying to shut down a smaller player.

What also makes this worse, in my opinion, is the business model difference. Whoop wants you inside its hardware + subscription ecosystem. Bevel is free unless you want to use the AI features. That makes this lawsuit look even more aggressive from the outside.

And that is really my question: would Whoop take this same approach if Apple or Google did something similar? Or is this only happening because Bevel is smaller and easier to pressure?

Maybe I am missing something, and if so I’m happy to hear the other side. But based on what I’ve seen so far, this kind of move makes me want to stop supporting Whoop, not support them more
