1) Change your lifestyle
- reduce time spent on phone

2) Have proper visual hygiene/good habit seeing phone
- with 20-20-20 rule (for every 20minit seeing phone, to look at 20feet away for 20seconds) to relax your eyes

3) Make use of easy focus lens, that is suitable for digital lifestyle
- let the lens do some of the focusing work so that your eyes are relaxed if you really have to use your phone all the time

Easy Focus Single Vision Lens

Not the standard single vision lens. They are not the same ya.

Lens that is suitable for digital lifestyle, always on the phone.

For those
1) have headache once starting to see phone or
2) strain on forehead
3) strain on eyes/temples upon waking but subside shortly

but vision seeing far is fine

Can come to have screening on headache whether or not:

(i) got refractive error/power that is not corrected

(ii) eye posture/alignment is normal

(iii) for those who wear spec, lens focus point between two lenses must be parallel
- we do see quite a lot of specs having lens’ focus point that is not aligned with eye’ focus point (this is very3 important) especially those with high power… how do you check? Can go to another optical shop to ask to check for the lens focus point if you have complaint of headache with new spec

If headache comes after using screen, and after sleep or a power nap, headache has subsided, then this is related to eyes.

If you have headache upon waking (have yet to see phone) or in the middle of the night, then most probably this is not from the eyes.

Near Exophoria

From alternating exotropia to near exophoria most of the time, only intermittent exotropia when sick or tired. She came in the late evening, we took this video close to 8pm.

She has come a long way, completed the first round of in-house vision therapy.. to better control of her eyes but there’s still room for improvement.

Know that improving+reversing misalignment takes a whole lot of time from both optometrist & patient.

Many people still hold on to perception that “you must train your eyes & not rely on glasses”‼️‼️ 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️

There’s only so much your eyes can do, if you have significant refractive error/power, go get it corrected!

especially if you opt for bigger frame, you must go for customised lens.

Otherwise, you would not feel comfortable with your glasses (to some extent headache) as your eye point does not & wont align with the lens’ focus point in a trendy, bigger frame.

Cannot See Whiteboard/Projector Screen at School Clearly Already?

Sometimes, blurring of vision at far may be temporary due to overuse of our eye focusing system. You stop seeing phone and you gradually gain back clear vision seeing far.

But in this case, her axial length is long, so we confirm that she has myopia.

She has myopia -2.25 & -2.75 with mild astigmatism in her first prescription.

Standard single vision lens is NOT a choice, this is the basic & old lens design that is no longer suitable for our digital lifestyle, be it for adult or children.

Myopia control is the way forward. Dont wait until myopia is much higher only to start controlling it.

Uncle (M/78) came to complain about glaring & watery eyes.

He rides motorbike to work & he works in a factory dealing with water piping. Not wearing any glasses & no reading spec with him too, he reported having a pair of glasses at home but he hasnt used it since years ago.

We refer uncle to see eye doctor/ophthalmologist. Apparently he is waiting to go for his scheduled eye appointment in December.

Meanwhile, uncle can use some artificial tears for comfort.
