Quite a scare here!
September 24 1994: TAROM Flight 381, an A310, has severe control issues in Paris (France). Jet landed safely, all 186 unhurt. On approach to Orly, jet entered an uncommanded and sharp climb. It then stalled and fell 4500 ft, crew was able to recover at just 800 ft from the ground.
Video shows amateur footage of the occurrence and animation with CVR recording. Enquiry pointed crew actions – approach too fast, CRM, training, others - but it raised issues with the then-current Airbus pilot/plane interface.
This incident, along with other occurrences connected to the jet´s automation – such as the infamous A320 crash on a display in 1988, or the China Airlines Flight 140 – led to changes in procedures, manuals, and even updates in the FBW as well.
