There is no point pretending otherwise. Newcastle had a bid accepted for Victor Munoz and the player chose to go to Liverpool. It’s a painful blow and brings back bad memories for #nufc from last summer.
When there is competition for targets they have a nasty habit of missing out.
But it’s a long summer. Judge the window in September not June. There are other targets they are working on.
@wuds100 I like the idea of investing in younger, exciting players but it simply can't be our whole new strategy.
What was wrong with signing players like Tripps, Bruno, Botman, Isak, Gordon, etc?
Obviously paid for the numbers he delivered in the time he was here. A solid 8/10 signing for me. You always pay what you think they'll be worth. Very odd.
Should Newcastle United be looking over their shoulder?
Eddie Howe: "I think we're looking at the fact we haven't won games. It's too many games without positive results.
"So we're looking at next week, trying to win a game and try and lift the feeling that we currently feel."

⚫️⚪️ Kieran Trippier tells @SkySportsNews the Newcastle players deserve to be booed by their fans:
🗣️ “We know it’s been a rough time for us recently. But it’s my responsibility as a senior player to try take the criticism away from the younger players. The manager has given us clear game plans but it’s up to us to start executing it. We need to get wins - and fast.
🗣️ “As players you can’t think like that (whoever will be here next season). Whatever happens at the end of the season happens, but I’m not thinking like that. Players should not be thinking like that, things will take care of themselves if players leave. I’m not seeing that amongst my teammates, what I see is a group low in confidence maybe. But what an opportunity to go to Arsenal and win.
🗣️”Yeah it hurts. We know we aren’t putting in the performances that the fans demand. We hear the boos we deserve them. Nine defeats at home is unacceptable. All I can say is there’s five games left and we need to start winning.”

@PercyArmsDisco@OfficielKaybaye@MsiDouglas I dont think we will be the last window set us that far back i think for now it's sensible signings and starting from scratch.
🤔 I get the argument that the #nufc players are letting Eddie Howe down (some clearly are) but there can't be many Premier League managers who had as much influence over players who came in as he did last summer.
Aaron Ramsdale a good example of a strategy that has been found wanting. Went with 'what we know' / PL experience rather than being prepared to take a chance on better with less experience. It hasn't worked. It's going to change, from what I'm hearing.
#nufc are in a really tough spot. Howe has done a wonderful job but this season has been really poor & the last few weeks have been totally unacceptable. I'm glad he has the fire but #nufc now being out-fought & out-thought by mid-table rivals & that worries me. Yesterday's result was all-too-predictable.
Whatever Newcastle are going to do (stay/go), it would be useful for them to make that decision well before end of season & communicate it clearly. Uncertainty over manager / player futures is hugely corrosive & with seemingly nothing to play for drift could become toxic.
Iraola has never lost to Howe in the PL and turned us over at home for the second season in a row. All whilst continuing to lose his best players, including his entire back 5 last summer, having a smaller budget and playing good football. Wouldn't be an upgrade though 🙃 #NUFC
