This rotating Earth demo on the Commodore 64 just blew my mind.
As a kid, I was obsessed with my desktop globe. I’d spin it with my eyes closed, slam my finger down, and then check where I’d landed. I probably learned more geography that way than from any map in school.
It’s pretty sad that many schools today don’t really teach world geography anymore. I’ve heard that a lot of kids now can’t even find pretty obvious countries on a globe.
Watching this rotating globe on my C64 reminded me of my old blow-up globe. It’s mesmerising — especially with the SID music playing too 🎶
Who else had a blow-up globe as a kid?

Not a filter. Not AI. Just paper, patience, and Seoul-level beauty standards.
A small update on the ongoing The Secret of Monkey Island project on the Commodore 64 in collaboration with with Andreas Larsson
I made a section on my website for this game showing some more graphics and screen recordings from actual game play.
Enjoy.

Roman Polanski on why Stanley Kubrick's "2001: A Space Odyssey" (1968) was the only movie that really showed what one experiences under the influence of LSD:
"Interviewer: How did you interpret the ending of '2001'?
Polanski: It’s extremely ambiguous, but we’re led to understand that if there is a vastly superior intelligence, then we’re incapable of understanding and perceiving it. If it contributes to our development, then it might well be hidden from us.
Kubrick gives this idea a cinematic form. Apart from that, what I like about the film are its technical and magical aspects. It’s full of fascinating effects like the voyage into space at the end. It’s a real “trip.” There are people who give themselves a headache trying—and failing—to show how it really is when you take LSD. I’ve seen very weak efforts in other films. Without showing it directly, the film has really grasped what you see when you take LSD."

Proud to have played a part in inspiring the Starlight Edition of the brand new Commodore 64 Ultimate, a modern and futuristic take that remains true to the spirit of the original.
@commodoreofcl has just published a spotlight covering my C64 setup, favourite tracks, and the story behind the connection between this iconic machine and my music.

@PhotoGhibli Miyazaki understands that the heart of Studio Ghibli lies in his own creativity and imagination, which are ultimately irreplaceable. Ghibli cannot truly exist without him, because art is inseparable from the artist. I find myself agreeing, however sadly.
@R37R34M I know MAH very well, I own the RGCD cartridge edition released years ago 😊
I’m not aware of any other C64 game that overlays two hi-res sprites over a multicolor one. From what I know, your technique really seems to be a first on the Commodore platform.
