obsession and fire walk with me are two films about the horrors of rape that were truly able to make me break down crying. they are just. they know where to get you and at the same time they were both cathartic in very different ways.

watching obsession was so extremely uncomfortable and cathartic because of its portrayal of the dissociation that comes from rape. it's one of my favorite movies because of how intensely accurate it was at illustrating how I feel and I felt when it was happening

the "not me" Polaroid specifically gave me fucking chills. Nikki had these moments of clarity when she would regain control of her body and those were some of the most horrifying moments to me when I was still with my abuser.
